Why did Joe Biden suddenly decide to drop out of the presidential race?
Presidential elections are going to be held in America on November 5. In such a situation, Donald Trump is in the fray from the Republican side, while Kamala Harris is in the fray from the Democrats. Both the rivals are giving tough competition to each other. Four days ago, on Sunday, Joe Biden surprised everyone by announcing his exit from the electoral race. After this, questions started arising whether the President has taken this decision under pressure from the Republicans. However, now Biden has broken his silence on this matter. He said on Thursday that he respects this office, but he loves his country more.
‘It’s about our people’
He further said, ‘I get strength and happiness from working for the American people. But this task of making our union perfect is not about me. It is about you, your family and your future. It is about our people.’
Marking the end of his political career, the US President said that the country’s democracy is in the hands of the voters. The 80-year-old leader said, ‘Nowhere else in the world can it happen that a stuttering child born normally in Scranton, Pennsylvania and Claymont, Delaware will one day sit in the Oval Office as the President of the United States. But I am here.’
He expressed gratitude for the love and support of the American people, saying that he has given his heart and soul to the country and has been blessed many times in return.
Biden will not leave the post
In his speech in the Oval Office, US President Biden said that six months of the term are left. During this time he will focus on doing his work as President. He flatly rejected the demands of the Republicans and Donald Trump, claiming that the current President is not able to remain in office and he should resign.
Biden said that he would work on reducing costs for families, boosting the economy, protecting personal freedom and civil rights, addressing hate extremism and political violence. He further said that he would make efforts to end the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, ensure the release of hostages, and bring peace to the Middle East.
