While performing their duties, the police are also achieving achievements in sports at national and international level: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Maha Kumbh is going on in Prayagraj and Ardh Kumbh of water sports is starting in Bhopal. Police, while performing its duties of protecting citizens and maintaining law and order, is also making its mark in sports. Many jawans of the police force have brought glory to the country by proving their talent at the national and international level in various sports. Organizing the All India competition in the historic Bada Talab of Bhopal, built by Raja Bhoj, is a matter of pride for the state as well as the capital Bhopal. This event will increase people’s interest in water sports. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 24th All India Police Water Sports Competition.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was greeted by the police band on his arrival at the venue, Water Sports Center at Bada Talab. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav got introduced to the team managers of various states and police units who had come to Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced the start of the competition by displaying tricolor balloons and releasing them in the open sky. March-past and Ro-past were performed by the competing teams in front of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav also released the souvenir. On this occasion, the participating teams were also sworn in. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav was presented a souvenir of the All India event by Director General of Police Shri Kailash Makwana. The police band continuously played patriotic songs in the program. Additional Chief Secretary Home Shri J.N. Kansotia and senior police officers were specially present.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that it is a matter of good fortune that those who join the police, paramilitary forces, army etc. are called jawans, in this sense they remain jawans till their service period. It is my wish that they keep working with enthusiasm, zeal and a sense of service and dedication towards the country and countrymen. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. The resolution of purity of mind, intellect and soul can also be achieved through sports. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav welcomed the teams of various states and central paramilitary forces on behalf of the state government and wished them success in the competition.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that according to mythological beliefs, water is of special importance among the five elements. Living beings are born from water, hence living beings are always attracted towards water. As a result of this, people often come near water sources for peace of mind. The huge lake of Bhopal built by Raja Bhoj is amazing, and it is also a unique example of dam construction. In this, water storage has been managed through a structure made of rocks without obstructing the flow of the river.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that 360 medals and trophies will be decided through a total of 27 competitions in men and women categories of kayaking, canoeing and rowing in the water sports competitions running from 17 to 21 February. 557 players from 22 teams of state police forces and central paramilitary forces of the country are participating in the competition, out of which 123 are women. Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Police has organized the All India Police Water Sports Competition five times, this is the sixth All India competition.

Director General of Police Mr. Kailash Makwana said that sports have a long history at the global level. Sports are also mentioned in ancient Indian texts. The ponds developed by Raja Bhoj in Bhopal, apart from purifying the environment and being a source of water, are providing a base for water sports activities. Bhopal has emerged as the water sports capital of the country. Under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav, the state government is providing the necessary support and encouragement for this.

It is noteworthy that teams from Andaman Nicobar, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, CRPF, ITBP and Sashastra Seema Bal are participating in the All India Police Water Sports Competition.
