Wheel chair cricket tournament is a display of divine powers- Governor Patel
Governor Mangubhai Patel has said that the wheel chair cricket tournament is an opportunity to see and display divine powers. Giving an opportunity to the divine powers of the disabled people to display during the game is a commendable initiative. He said that watching how the disabled players bat, bowl and field with their physical challenges is like witnessing divinity. Those people who get disappointed with minor physical and mental challenges will get new inspiration and enthusiasm.
Governor Patel was addressing the inaugural program of the Wheel Chair Day and Night Cricket Tournament organized by Umang Gauravdeep Welfare Society for the physically challenged women and men. On this occasion, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Sarang, Social Justice Minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha, Principal Secretary Social Justice Mrs. Sonali Wayangankar Pokshe, Commissioner Ramarao Bhosale and sports lovers were present. The competition was organized at the Old Campion Ground.
Only the one who keeps playing is the winner
Governor Patel said that it is the truth of life that results are achieved only by continuous efforts. Winning or losing does not matter as much as continuing to play. Only those who keep playing continuously are winners. Appreciating the players for their enthusiasm and passion, he said that playing with sportsmanship is the way to become a winner. He said that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the Chief Minister of Gujarat in the year 2000, he has been working for the upliftment of sports and players. A new environment has been created in the country for sports and players. Similarly, narendra Modi has provided new opportunities for progress and development to the powers of the disabled. In the same sequence, a youth conference is being held in the month of January, in which youth selected through various competitions will participate. He called upon the players of the competitions and the youth present to try to attend the conference by participating in these competitions.
The Governor stayed in the program for half an hour more than the scheduled time
Governor Patel was present for half an hour more than the scheduled time in the wheelchair cricket tournament for orthopedically handicapped women and men. In the cricket match being played between Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, he observed the batting of Chhattisgarh’s men’s team for six overs out of the scheduled 10 overs. He boosted the morale of the players. Earlier, Governor Patel infused enthusiasm in the players by playing cricket. He went to the players of each team, introduced himself to them and encouraged them.
Sports and Youth Welfare Cooperation Minister Vishwas Sarang saluted the spirit of the players participating in the competition. He said that the players have shown that only those who have determination and passion win. He appreciated the efforts of the competition organizers to do something new in the competition every year. He said that it is pleasant that whatever new is done every year is no less than anyone else. This is a big thing. He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, who has done development and upliftment work with sensitivity for the disabled people. Along with this, he has highlighted their mental and physical divinity. He said that he was overwhelmed by the nurturing spirit of the Governor of the state, Patel. He described the Governor’s being ahead in social concerns as inspirational. He said that the efforts to eradicate sickle cell disease have taken the form of a movement only due to the efforts of the Governor.
Social Justice Minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha said that the state government is conducting Divyangjan welfare efforts on a wide scale. On the occasion of International Divyang Day, various sports competitions for Divyangjan were organized in Gwalior. Earlier, Divyang Cricket Competition was organized in Gwalior itself. He told that medal winning Divyang players in Para Olympics have also been awarded by the state government. Mrs. Deepti Patwa, founder of Umang Gauravdeep Welfare Society, gave information regarding the competition. She told that ten teams from eight states have participated in the competition. More than 180 Divyang players are participating in the competition. In the program, Divyang children presented a song in coordination with Nirmala Upadhyay. The program was conducted and the commentary of the match was done by Vikas.
