We will make Madhya Pradesh an ideal investment destination with the help of Japan: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav
Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav returned home on Saturday (1 February) evening after completing his four-day Japan visit (28-31 January). Addressing press representatives in New Delhi, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that during the visit he invited Japanese investors and industrialists to attend the Global Investors Summit to be held in Bhopal on 24-25 February. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Japanese companies have shown keen interest in investing in Madhya Pradesh and many major companies will participate in the upcoming summit. He held business to business (B-to-B) meetings with various industrialists and investors of Japan and government to government (G-to-G) meetings with senior officials of the Japanese government and discussed in detail the possibilities of investment in the state.
The proposal to establish Japan-Madhya Pradesh Industrial Cooperation Forum was approved, due to which Japanese Industrial Park, Skill Development Center and Smart Manufacturing Hub will soon be established in the state. For this, Japan Plus Cell will also be established, which will have continuous contact and follow-up with Japanese investors. The Chief Minister invited industrialists and investors of Japan to the Global Investors Summit (GIS-2025) to be held in February, which will open new investment opportunities.
Japan will be the country partner of Global Investors Summit
The Chief Minister said that this time Japan will participate in the Global Investors Summit as a country partner. This will promote economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries. Dr. Yadav said that Japanese companies have expressed their desire to invest in medical devices, automobiles, manufacturing, electronics and textile (readymade garments) sectors in Madhya Pradesh. The investment of Japanese companies will help in taking the industrial development of Madhya Pradesh to new heights. With the cooperation of Japanese companies, we are moving towards making the state an ‘ideal destination’ and ‘industry friendly state’ for investment.
Favourable environment for investment in Madhya Pradesh
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that our government is providing better infrastructure, simple investment policies and a very favorable environment to investors for the development of industries. He assured the Japanese investors that they should invest here without hesitation, the state government will provide them all possible support. With this successful visit, the investment made by Japanese companies in Madhya Pradesh will create new employment opportunities here and will also accelerate industrial development. The Japan visit will prove to be an important step towards making Madhya Pradesh an “investment hub”. Global Investors Summit-2025 will be organized at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya in Bhopal, where investors and industrialists from different countries will participate.
Japan is the fifth largest investor in India
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that at present Japan is the fifth largest investor in India, which has made foreign direct investment of more than $ 38 billion in India in the last two decades. The bilateral trade between the two countries is about $ 20 billion, which is constantly increasing. Many major Japanese companies are already successfully operating in Madhya Pradesh. Bridgestone has set up its world-class tire production plant in Pithampur, which is making a significant contribution to employment generation and exports. A giant company like Panasonic has registered its presence in Madhya Pradesh. Japanese companies like NSK, Sanoh and Kamatsu are also operating in the state, which are contributing to the automotive and machinery sector. In the field of trade, exports from Madhya Pradesh to Japan are constantly increasing. This is a proof of the growing trade relations between the two regions.
Historic meeting with Tokyo Governor Mrs. Koike
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Tokyo is one of the most developed metropolitan economies in the world, with a GDP of about $1 trillion. New dimensions of urban development were discussed in the meeting with Mrs. Yuriko Koike. The cities of Madhya Pradesh will benefit from the expertise of Tokyo Metropolitan Government. Bhopal and Indore will receive special assistance in metro rail technology, smart city solutions, water management and waste management. This is an important step towards adopting Tokyo’s development model in Madhya Pradesh.
High-level talks at Japan’s Foreign Ministry
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the meeting with Parliamentary Deputy Minister Mr. Hisashi Matsumoto in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan was important. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the main pillar of Japan’s foreign policy and international trade. In the meeting, a consensus was reached on making a special effort to facilitate Japanese investment in Madhya Pradesh. The proposal for exchange of trade missions, participation of Japanese experts in skill development, and establishment of a Japan-Madhya Pradesh Industrial Cooperation Forum has been approved.
Strategic Dialogue at the Ministry of Land and Infrastructure of Japan
He informed that the Ministry of Land and Infrastructure (MLIT) is the highest body for infrastructure development in Japan. Many important decisions were taken in a meeting with its minister Mr. Yasushi Furukawa. The possibilities of high-speed rail corridor will be studied in Madhya Pradesh. There has been a consensus on adopting the Japanese model in the development of smart transportation system and logistics. Special cooperation in green infrastructure will promote sustainable development in the state.
Discussion on business facilities with JETRO
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that in a meeting with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) President Mr. Susumu Kataoka, a special framework was agreed upon to promote trade and investment. JETRO was requested to set up its office in Madhya Pradesh. This will provide guidance to Japanese companies for investing in the state.
Meeting with Zika
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that important discussions were held on development projects in the meeting with Senior Vice President of Japan International Cooperation (JICA) Mr. Shohei Hara. Referring to his tenure in India in 1996-99, Mr. Hara recalled the contribution of JICA in silk production, health projects and power transmission in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that new projects were proposed in Bhopal-Indore-Ujjain urban transport, Japanese industrial park, water conservation, urban renewal, skill development and agricultural technology.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that during the visit, meetings were held with many leading companies of the world in Japan. These meetings will start a new phase of investment in Madhya Pradesh. These partnerships will not only bring foreign direct investment but will also promote technical capability, skill development and employment generation in the state. This trust of world-class companies of Japan will prove to be a milestone in establishing the state as a global investment center.
Meeting with Toyota Motor Corporation
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that Toyota is the world’s leading automobile company. Detailed discussions were held with Mr. Toshiyuki Nakahara, Department General Manager, Administration and Support Department. Special interest was shown in the availability of National Automotive Test Tracks and electric vehicle manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh. An agreement has been reached with Toyota to strengthen the automobile supply chain and establish a skill development center. This partnership will give a new direction to the automotive sector of the state.
Expansion Plans with Bridgestone Corporation:
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that many important decisions were taken in the meeting with global CEO Mr. Shuichi Ishibashi. Bridgestone, one of the world’s largest tyre manufacturing companies, will expand its existing unit in Madhya Pradesh. There are plans to set up a new production line, R&D centre and skill development centre. This investment will not only create direct employment but will also strengthen the entire eco-system of the automotive sector.
Crucial talks with Sysmex
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that an important meeting was held in Kobe with Japan’s leading medical technology company Sysmex. Sysmex, which has a strong presence in Asia-Pacific, has been operating in India since 1993. The company is already operating in government civil hospitals in Madhya Pradesh, in the coming time the company wants to use its expertise in the field of diagnostics in Madhya Pradesh. We invited Sysmex to invest in the Medical Device Park in Ujjain.
Future partnership with Panasonic Energy
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that Panasonic Energy is a world renowned company, in an important meeting with the Executive Vice President of Panasonic Energy, the company’s expansion plans in India were discussed in detail. Our relationship with Panasonic has developed not only as a business but also as a strategic partnership. The current investment scenario provides an unprecedented opportunity for Madhya Pradesh, where we can take the economic capabilities of the state to new heights in collaboration with Panasonic. We want to provide Panasonic an ecosystem that not only promotes their current investment but also creates new opportunities in the future. Collaboration in the textile sector with Uniqlo
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that in an important meeting with Fast Retailing Chairman Mr. Tadashi Yanni, the company showed keen interest in expanding in Madhya Pradesh. The company has planned to expand from cotton cultivation in India to the manufacture of technical textiles using nano-technology and advanced materials. We mentioned Madhya Pradesh’s ‘farm to foreign’ model, presence of major brands and integrated value chain in the mega textile park. The state was assured of the largest organic cotton production, adequate industrial land, water availability, skilled manpower and favorable policies. The company was offered collaboration with agricultural producer groups and specific incentives for contract farming.
Cooperation in Pump Industry with Ebara Corporation
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that in the meeting with Mr. Masahiro Serikawa, the company shared its expertise, which is a leader in industrial pump manufacturing and supply to semiconductor companies. The company discussed the opportunities in the field of semiconductor manufacturing in Madhya Pradesh.
Expanding into home furnishings with Nitori Holdings
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that in a meeting with Chairman Mr. Toshiyuki Shirai, the company discussed its plans to expand in India. The company, which will open its first store in Mumbai in December 2024, showed interest in expanding in Indore. We emphasized on teak production, collaboration with artisans and possible partnership with self-help groups to this world-class company.
Strategic Dialogue with Yokogawa Electronic Corporation
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that in a meeting with Mr. Go Iwata and Naveen Kumar, the company discussed its expansion plans in India. The Bengaluru-headquartered company provides control systems to major customers like NTPC, IOC Reliance. The company is looking at India as a major manufacturing base as part of its expansion strategy. Participation in GIS 2025 was planned with special focus on monitoring water related projects.
Partnership Opportunities with A&D Medical Devices
The Chief Minister said that in the meeting with Shri Daiki Arai, the company shared the details of its Indian visit. A&D, active in India since 1986, is currently selling BP monitors, nebulizers, blood sugar monitors and weighing devices through Gurugram. The company proposed to produce a home-based monitoring system worth 20 crore yen, with a target of 20,000 units in the first year. We made the company aware of the Ujjain Medical Device Park and policy.
Strategic Dialogue with Japan Business Federation
Chief Minister Dr. informed that an important meeting was held with Mr. Yuji Fukasawa, Chairman of East Japan Railway Company and Chairman of South Asia Committee of Japan Business Federation. Japan Business Federation, which has 1500 members, has a significant contribution in Japan’s policy advice and global relations. India-Japan relations, especially the role of both countries in the Indo-Pacific region, were discussed.
Technocraft Limited
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that an important meeting was held with Shri Sharad Sharaf of Technocraft Limited. Shri Sharad Sharaf is the Chairman of IIT Mumbai and Jammu and Kashmir as well as the promoter of Technocraft Limited. Shri Saraf shared the plan to set up a scaffolding manufacturing unit near Ujjain. This project will help in making Madhya Pradesh a major hub of construction equipment manufacturing. This unit will not only create new employment opportunities, but will also provide high-tech training to the skilled youth of the state. Shri Saraf told about the plan to provide high-tech skill development training in technical education institutes of Madhya Pradesh, and also shared the plan regarding the use of Japanese technology.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that major companies and business organizations of Japan participated in the road-show organized at the Indian Embassy, Tokyo, “Celebrating India-Japan Relationship: Focus Madhya Pradesh”. Presentations were made on Madhya Pradesh’s industrial development, investment policies and opportunities in specific sectors such as pharma, textile, automotive and food processing. The participants showed special interest in the state’s infrastructure, skilled manpower and ease of doing business.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that in the Diaspora Dialogue organized at Imperial Hotel, Tokyo, there was dialogue with the Indian community living in Japan and friends of Madhya Pradesh. The Chief Minister called upon the NRIs to contribute and invest in the development of Madhya Pradesh. In the road-show organized in Tokyo and Osaka, the Japanese industry showed keen interest in the development possibilities of Madhya Pradesh. I am personally very happy with the efforts to establish a Japanese Industrial Park, the inclusion of the Japanese model in skill development and the announcement of active participation of Japanese companies in the Global Investors Summit to be held in February 2025.
Kyoto Travel – Coordinating Heritage Conservation and Development
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that a great model of modern management of traditional heritage emerged from the visit to the major historical sites of Japan’s major city Kyoto – Sanjushendo Temple, Nijo Castle and Taiji Temple. The way Kyoto has balanced its ancient heritage with modern development is an ideal example for Madhya Pradesh. After this visit, we have decided to adopt Japanese techniques and management methods for the management of heritage sites. Japanese techniques and management methods will be used especially in the management of Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, Buddhist complex of Sanchi and temples of Khajuraho. Development of smart tourist facilities, modern display technology and environment-friendly infrastructure will be a priority. Also, tourism will be linked to economic development with the participation of local communities. He informed that the experiences of Kyoto will be of special importance in the development of Buddhist circuit. Buddhist sites from Sanchi to Devni-Jakhora will be developed as attractive destinations for Japanese tourists. This will not only promote tourism but will also strengthen cultural relations between the two countries.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh Global Investors Summit 2025 , which will be held in Bhopal on 24-25 February, is going to be an unprecedented platform for global investment. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Global Investors Summit on 24 February.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the Global Investors Summit includes four major departmental conferences (Departmental Summit: IT, Energy, Tourism, MSME), special overseas session, sectoral session and buyer-seller meet. Along with auto and textile expo, the display of new technologies will also be the center of attraction. The unique exhibition of one district-one product will showcase the diversity of the state.
Preparing the state
The state has undertaken an extensive outreach programme in preparation for the Global Investors Summit. Successful regional conferences were organised in Gwalior-Chambal, Mahakoshal-Vindhya and Malwa-Nimar regions. These conferences saw active participation from local industries and several significant investment proposals were received.

He said that this visit is not only a new chapter of investment and technical cooperation, but it is writing a new story of development by the union of two cultures.
