Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that water is the most important element for the existence of humans and animals. If there is no water, life will be in trouble. Nature provides us with sufficient water through rain. In the present times, conserving water has become an important necessity for human life. We all have to store rainwater and protect it not only for the present but also for the coming generation. For this, priority will have to be given to the renovation of old water structures and construction of new water structures, so that every drop of water can be conserved. For this purpose, Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan has been started in the state from March 30, which will continue till June 30.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that under the campaign, while on one hand old stepwells and ponds are being renovated, on the other hand “farm ponds” are also being built on a large scale in the farmers’ fields. Stop dams and other water structures are also being constructed to store rainwater. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the specialty of the campaign is that public participation has also taken a widespread form in urban and rural areas.
Public participation is being encouraged by doing shramdaan
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav is himself doing Shramdaan by visiting various districts to encourage public participation in the campaign. Members of the Council of Ministers, MPs, MLAs, urban and panchayat representatives, Jan Abhiyan Parishad and many voluntary organizations are also becoming an integral part of the campaign and making it a mass movement.
Features of Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign
The campaign which started from the banks of Kshipra on March 30 will continue till June 30, 2025.
Water ambassadors were prepared in every village.
Old stepwells and water structures are being renovated.
“Farm ponds” are being constructed for the farmers.
Water dams, canals and water structures are being cleaned and strengthened.
Organizing water panchayats to increase public participation.
Citizens are being made aware about water conservation through various promotional activities including wall-writing.
Public awareness activities are also being conducted in schools and colleges.
Citizens in urban and rural areas are also doing voluntary work for water conservation.
Tree plantation will also be done on a large scale under the campaign.
A scheme was also implemented to reward officers and employees doing excellent work in the field of water conservation.
Cleaning of water structures, construction and renovation campaign continues
In Dewas district, “Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan” is at its peak with public participation. Under this important campaign related to public life, water conservation works are also being done in ponds, water sources and temples of historical, cultural and religious importance. With the joint efforts of public representatives, local community, common people and government, proper planning of machines, material and labour is being done in the campaign. Under Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan, stepwells and ghats were renovated and cleaned with public cooperation in Barjhai village panchayat of Bagli development block. Cleaning and deepening of water sources will increase their water storage capacity, along with this, groundwater will remain in sufficient quantity in the nearby small water structures.
Now the rainy river of Bhitarwar will not dry up
In the Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan in Bhitarwar development block of Gwalior district, Shramdaan was done for the conservation of the local rainy river. With the joint efforts of Navankur Sanstha associated with Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad, the youth did Shramdaan on the rainy river between village panchayat Kaithi and Bhengana. Officers of Sanchar Yuva Mandal also participated in Shramdaan. This made people aware about water conservation along with conservation of rivers.
Cleanliness drive on the banks of Pandhurna’s Jam river
Under the leadership of Madhya Pradesh Jan Abhiyan Parishad’s Vice President Mr. Mohan Nagar, people’s representatives of Pandhurna district along with the local community volunteered to clean the banks of Maa Jam River. The support of the Jan Abhiyan Parishad and the team of Gramin Adivasi Samaj Kalyan Vikas Sansthan was important in the cleanliness drive of the ghat complex of Maa Jam River.
