Vision document will be prepared keeping in mind future requirements and challenges: CEO NITI Aayog Subramaniam

Bhopal. NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subramaniam has said in the Madhya Pradesh@2047 Vision Document Kick-Start Meeting held in Bhopal that it will be prepared carefully keeping in mind the future requirements and challenges. Madhya Pradesh Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain said that the kick-start meeting will be important in preparing a solid roadmap for the development of Madhya Pradesh. In the meeting held in view of the roadmap to be prepared for the development of Madhya Pradesh, it was told that the target has been set to increase the GDP of Madhya Pradesh to 27.2 lakh crores in the next five years and to 250 lakh crores by 2047. Madhya Pradesh will become an ideal state of economic, cultural and social progress by 2047. Every citizen will get the facility of employment, health, education and high quality of life. Madhya Pradesh will become a self-reliant and developed state. The meeting began with the welcome address by Shri Sanjay Shukla, Principal Secretary, Department of Planning, Economic and Statistics and the vote of thanks was given by Shri Rishi Garg, Chief Executive Officer, State NITI Aayog.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had called for a resolution to make India a developed nation by the year 2047 during his Independence Day speech on 15 August 2023. Under this, Madhya Pradesh, in collaboration with NITI Aayog, has taken steps towards preparing the “Developed Madhya Pradesh @ 2047” vision document.

NITI Aayog’s Viewpoint

NITI Aayog CEO Shri Subramaniam said that he has a deep emotional attachment with Madhya Pradesh. He emphasized on carefully preparing the vision document in view of future needs and challenges. Shri Subramaniam said that the document should not be made only a collection of current requirements but should be divided into five-year plans by estimating future challenges and opportunities.

State government’s effort

Chief Secretary Mr. Jain, while discussing the priorities and challenges of the state, said that the creation of the vision document will not be just a document, but a concrete roadmap for the development of Madhya Pradesh will be prepared in it. Mr. Jain said that the officers will have to work wholeheartedly towards implementing the vision at the ground level by doing in-depth study and communicating with various stakeholders of the state.

Priorities

Principal Secretary Planning, Economic and Statistics Mr. Shukla said that the vision of developed Madhya Pradesh will be based on major sectors like agriculture, MSME, tourism, health, and education. In the meeting, the need to increase investment in food processing apart from pharma, electronics, and textiles in focus areas was also discussed. The proposal to build a private airport was discussed.

Participation of external agency BCG

External agency BCG (Boston Consulting Group) presented an economic study of Madhya Pradesh, which aims to double the state’s current GDP of Rs 13.6 lakh crore to Rs 27.2 lakh crore in the next 5 years and reach Rs 250 lakh crore by 2047. According to BCG, efforts will be made to make Madhya Pradesh a leading state in industrial development, tourism, agriculture, and green energy.

Future plans

It was suggested in the meeting that for development in various sectors in Madhya Pradesh, it is necessary to increase dialogue with various internal and external stakeholders including youth, universities, and government institutions. Also, a plan has been made to develop the state as a major industrial center and tourist destination by moving towards the goals of every 5 years. Overall development will be done by creating clusters of cities.
