Villages of Chhattisgarh falling in the submergence area of Hirakud Dam will not have to face the disaster of flood this year

Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, taking prompt initiative in view of the possibility of flood in the villages of Raigarh under the submergence area of Hirakud Dam due to continuous rain for the last few days, discussed with the Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi last night and requested him to release water from Hirakud Dam so that the possible disaster of flood can be avoided.

On the initiative of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai, Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, keeping in mind the interests of both the states, immediately ordered to release the required amount of water from Hirakud Dam so that the villagers of more than two dozen villages can be saved from the possible loss of life and property.

Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi for this sensitive initiative.

It is noteworthy that earlier due to heavy rains every year, more than two dozen villages of Chhattisgarh had to face the disaster of floods due to the submergence area of Hirakud Dam. This year, due to the presence of public welfare-oriented governments in both Chhattisgarh and Odisha, for the first time, quick decisions are being taken with unprecedented coordination between the two states and works are being done in public interest. Such coordination between the governments of both the states is being seen for the first time, the good result of which is that now the areas in both the states which used to be severely flooded every year are not suffering from the disaster of floods at present.
