More than 50 families return to Silger after two decades
Raipur 19 March 2025: Due to the restoration of peace in Bastar region, deserted villages have started getting populated again. After Jagargunda, Gargunda of Sukma district, now the Naxal-affected villages adjoining it are also getting populated again. While the people living in Jagargunda relief camp have already returned to their village, now villages like Silger, Timmapuram, Bedre, Borguda, Gellur, Mandmarka, 11 km away from Jagargunda, are also getting populated again.
After two decades, these villages are getting back to their glory. More than 50 families from Silger and its surrounding areas who had left their villages during Salwa Judum in 2005-2006 and settled in Cherla, Bhadrani district of Andhra Pradesh and other districts, 50 such families have now returned to the village and are rebuilding their houses. Villagers said that most of them had settled in Cherla. Now the villagers have started returning and settling in Silger village. Ramdas of Silger said that more than 50 families have returned now. Ramdas said that the road has been built and other work is also going on in the village. Now there is peace, so the people who left the village are returning. The Jagargunda to Basaguda-Bijapur road is ready. The Jagargunda to Basaguda-Bijapur road is ready, there is no silence on the road now. Schools and hospitals have started. An ashram is also being built. Silger village was completely destroyed. Only a few families were left in the village. After Jagargunda, school has started again in Silger village. Ashram Bhawan is being built, hospital has started. Bus service has also started in all three directions of Bijapur, Dornapal, Dantewada.
