Vidisha: Two Brave Youths Foil Kidnapping Attempt, Rescue 3-Year-Old Girl

A shocking incident similar to the recent kidnapping of a six-year-old in Gwalior unfolded in Vidisha. During a wedding ceremony, a three-year-old girl was abducted, but thanks to the quick thinking and bravery of two young men, a potential tragedy was averted. The kidnapper was attempting to escape when the duo caught him at the railway station.

How It Happened

The incident took place at Vidisha railway station around 9:30 PM on Thursday. The accused, identified as Golu alias Dabbu alias Komal Ahirwar, a resident of Luhangi Mohalla, had abducted the girl from a wedding at Agrawal Dharamshala and taken her to the station. Notably, he already had a criminal record, including a past rape case. The police have now booked him under severe charges.

Brave Duo’s Timely Action

Malkhan Singh Yadav, a Community Health Officer (CHO) posted in Sironj, and Ankit Sharma from Vidisha were out for an evening stroll at the railway station when they noticed a suspicious man carrying a little girl. The man, dressed in filthy clothes, hesitated upon seeing them and suddenly turned back, raising their suspicion. Sensing something was wrong, they decided to follow him. When he started moving toward the railway tracks, they called out for him to stop. Instead, he began running along the tracks with the child. Acting swiftly, they raised an alarm, alerting two young men, Jaid and Arif, who were standing nearby. The duo immediately sprang into action and caught the kidnapper.

Child’s Emotional Plea

The child was crying and repeatedly asking to go back to her father. When questioned, the accused initially claimed he had found the child at the wedding and was returning her. However, Malkhan and Ankit, along with Jaid and Arif, took him straight to the RPF police station, where it was revealed that he was a habitual offender.

Jaid and Arif, who were from Sagar district, left after ensuring the child’s safety at the station.

Accused Was a Repeat Offender

During interrogation, the accused admitted to serving ten years in jail for a previous rape conviction. According to Malkhan, the man appeared intoxicated, unkempt, and suspicious, while the little girl looked well-dressed. This discrepancy confirmed their doubts that she did not belong to him. The girl, identified as Anupriya Sharma, was able to provide her parents’ names and their address in Rajput Colony. The RPF immediately informed the Kotwali police, who then located the parents. The entire rescue operation took place between 9 PM and 11 PM. The girl’s uncle rushed to the RPF station, and she was safely handed over to the family.
