Vatsalya Scheme: Over ₹3 Crore Transferred to Beneficiaries’ Accounts

Vatsalya Scheme: Women and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya on Monday transferred funds under the Chief Minister Vatsalya Scheme directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. A total of ₹3 crore 35 lakh 52 thousand has been disbursed under this initiative.  Provision of 5% Horizontal Reservation for Orphaned Children
Under this scheme, children up to the age of 21 receive financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month. Additionally, they are provided free ration and education. Notably, Uttarakhand is the first state to introduce a provision of 5% horizontal reservation in jobs for orphaned children.  Payments Delayed Due to Code of Conduct Minister Rekha Arya shared that payments for November and December 2024 had been delayed due to the Model Code of Conduct being in place. Once the code was lifted, she authorized the transfer of funds through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) from her camp office on Monday.  6544 Children Identified Under the Scheme
The scheme initially identified 6,544 children across the state. However, some children aged out of eligibility, secured jobs, or got married, which removed them from the scheme’s coverage during the two months in question. Minister Arya confirmed that funds have now been deposited into the accounts of 5,603 children for November and 5,581 children for December.
