Winter Makes a Comeback in Uttarakhand
The weather in Uttarakhand has taken a sudden turn. From the plains to the hills, the sun has disappeared, and the sky is blanketed with clouds. Many low-lying areas have already started receiving light rain, while others are expecting showers soon. Even in the capital, Dehradun, the sky has remained cloudy since morning, with occasional drizzle in some places. The same situation prevails in the hilly regions. Most mountainous areas are under thick clouds, and reports of light rain are coming in. With overcast skies and cool winds, the winter chill has returned once again.
Rain Expected in These Districts
Although clouds have covered most parts of the state, the weather department has predicted light rain in higher areas of Dehradun, as well as in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, and Rudraprayag. Cold winds are also expected. Additionally, areas above 3,000 meters may witness snowfall. The forecast also suggests widespread rainfall across the state on February 19 and 20.
February Felt Like Summer!
January and February have been unusually warm in Uttarakhand this year. The temperatures were so high that people in Dehradun were already feeling the heat in February. According to meteorologists, the reason behind this was the lack of active western disturbances, which led to a prolonged dry spell, causing temperatures to rise.
