Uttarakhand CM Dhami Holds High-Level Meeting, Directs Tight Security for Char Dham Yatra and Key Installations

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a high-level meeting with senior officials at the CM residence on Wednesday. In light of the current situation along India’s international borders, the CM stressed the need for special security arrangements for the ongoing Char Dham Yatra, as well as for important installations, dams, and power plants located in Uttarakhand. He also instructed the administration, government departments, and police to remain on high alert.

CM Orders Extra Precautions for Char Dham Yatra and National-Level Institutions

After attending a virtual meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, CM Dhami met with senior officials at the CM residence. During the meeting, he said that strong security measures should be in place in all areas of the state that lie close to international borders. He added that there should be strict surveillance on any suspicious activity in these border regions. Since the Char Dham Yatra is currently underway and lakhs of pilgrims are participating, the CM directed that thorough security arrangements be made not only along the yatra routes but also at all four dham sites. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of national-level institutions located in the state and asked officials to take the necessary steps for their protection.

Hospitals to Stay on Alert

The CM directed that, in case of any emergency, supplies of food and other essentials should be maintained at both the district and tehsil levels. He said that hospitals must be ready for emergency situations and that a proper stock of all essential medicines should be ensured. Dhami also said that civil defence teams and volunteer groups should be trained in rescue and relief work. He stressed the need to keep people informed with accurate and verified information so that they remain alert and do not fall for rumours. The CM also instructed officials to keep a close watch on those spreading misinformation.

Government Employee Leaves Cancelled

During the meeting, CM Dhami said that, given the current situation, no employee leaves should be approved except in unavoidable circumstances. He asked all District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to thoroughly review security arrangements in their areas. He also appealed to the public to maintain peace and calm, assuring that the government is fully prepared to provide any kind of help. The Chief Minister thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for providing additional central security forces to support the Char Dham Yatra.
