After Premchand Aggarwal’s resignation, speculation around the Uttarakhand cabinet reshuffle has settled for now. However, the Dhami government is likely to take a new shape around Navratri. The groundwork between CM Dhami and the party leadership is already complete. Reports suggest that once the state celebrates three years of governance on March 23, the much-awaited cabinet expansion will take place. However, sources indicate that it won’t just be an expansion but a reshuffle as well. This means that two to three existing ministers may have to step down. After spending two days in Delhi, CM Dhami has returned to Dehradun. Earlier, it was believed that he would discuss the cabinet reshuffle with the central leadership, but during his visit, he was seen attending personal events instead. Meanwhile, reports suggest that a list of new ministers has already been prepared. Once it gets the green signal from the high command, the expansion is expected to take place at an auspicious time around Navratri.

A key development during Dhami’s visit to Delhi was his meeting with Garhwal MP Anil Baluni, sparking speculation about the future cabinet lineup. Sources also suggest that this time, the reshuffle will focus on ensuring fair representation for different communities and regions, including Punjabi, plains, and hilly areas. With this reshuffle, some MLAs are expected to get lucky, especially young and fresh faces. Many legislators are actively lobbying, making rounds from the Dehradun party office to the Delhi high command. While some are not openly making claims, they are subtly voicing public sentiments through the media. MLAs from districts like Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Nainital, and Pithoragarh are strongly advocating for representation, arguing that their regions have been left out of the cabinet so far.
