Uttarakhand Budget 2025: A Step Towards a Progressive and Self-Reliant State
The Dhami government has presented the Uttarakhand Budget for 2025-26, marking a significant financial milestone for the state. This year’s budget is 24 times larger than the state’s first-ever budget and has increased by 13% compared to last year. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted that in the Silver Jubilee year of Uttarakhand’s formation, the budget has surpassed ₹1 lakh crore for the first time.
The budget is designed with a focus on ecology, economy, innovation, inclusivity, sustainable development, technology, and accountability. Several new initiatives have been introduced, including:
- Riverfront Development Plan
- Formation of the Pravasi Uttarakhand Parishad (for non-resident Uttarakhandis)
- Deployment of electric buses under the Smart City project
- Establishment of a Sports University
- Creation of a Home Guard Welfare Fund
- Revolving Fund for boosting police morale
A Budget Centered on Growth and Welfare
Chief Minister Dhami stated that the budget follows the “NAMO” theme, focusing on Innovation, Self-Reliant Uttarakhand, Glorious Heritage, and Strong Human Resources. At the same time, it prioritizes “GYAN”, which stands for Garib Kalyan (Welfare of the Poor), Yuva (Youth Empowerment), Annadata (Farmers’ Welfare), and Nari Kalyan (Women’s Empowerment).
Financial Management & Development Priorities
The government has emphasized efficient financial management in this budget, aiming to boost the state’s revenue through better resource utilization. Special attention has been given to key areas such as education, rural development, infrastructure, healthcare, and industries to drive holistic progress. Chief Minister Dhami also reaffirmed that this budget aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas” (Collective Effort for Inclusive Growth). He reminded that PM Modi had declared from Kedarnath Dham that the third decade of the 21st century belongs to Uttarakhand, and this budget is a step toward realizing that vision.
A Vision for a Stronger Uttarakhand
This budget is not just about numbers—it represents a commitment to making Uttarakhand a model state and bringing it among the leading states of India. CM Dhami congratulated the Finance Minister and the entire team for presenting this historic budget in the Silver Jubilee year of Uttarakhand. He described it as a reflection of the government’s priorities and its roadmap for the future, paving the way for transformative growth and development in the state.
