Nava Raipur, 6 February 2025: State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh held a review meeting of senior officials of Raipur district at Government Engineering College, Sezabhaar regarding the preparations for the upcoming urban body and three-tier Panchayat general elections 2025 in Chhattisgarh. In the meeting, detailed discussion was held on the arrangements being made for the smooth conduct of the election process.

State Election Commissioner Singh reviewed the polling stations of urban bodies and three-tier panchayats, arrangements for EVM machines, election management, security management, availability of polling personnel, commissioning of EVM machines and voter awareness campaigns. He directed the officials to conduct the voting process with complete transparency and fairness. He informed that in this election, voters will cast their votes twice through the same EVM machine, one for Mayor/Chairman and the other for Councillor. He directed to run a special awareness campaign to make voters aware of this process. He strictly instructed the officers that the Model Code of Conduct should be strictly followed and immediate action should be taken in case of any violation. Also, special instructions were given to the police and administration to work in coordination to maintain strong security during voting. State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh visited the strong room built in Government Engineering College Sejbhaar and took stock of the arrangements for distribution of polling material and counting place. During the inspection, he directed the officers to take information regarding commissioning of machines, security, arrangements, security arrangements of strong room and other arrangements.

Deputy District Election Officer of Raipur district Umashankar Bandhe informed that there are total 11 lakh sixty eight thousand 373 voters in 11 urban bodies of the district and 7 lakh 16 thousand 277 voters for three-tier Panchayat elections. There are 1221 basic polling stations and 69 auxiliary polling stations in the urban bodies of the district, thus there are total 1290 polling stations. Similarly, there are 1374 basic polling stations and 04 auxiliary polling stations for three-tier Panchayat elections, thus there are total 1378 polling stations. He informed that training has been given to polling parties, sector officers and commissioning team. The first training has been given to the distribution return team and second training will be given on 09 February. The State Election Commissioner said that basic facilities should be provided at every polling station and special arrangements should be made for the handicapped and senior citizens. He also appealed to the voters to strengthen the democratic process by using their right to vote. State Election Commission Secretary Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Collector Gaurav Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police Lal Umend Singh, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Avinash Mishra, District CEO Vishwa Deep along with other senior officers and related officers were present in this review meeting.
