State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh arrived in Sukma on a one-day visit

Inspected the strong room, counting place, polling stations

Raipur, 04 February 2025: Chhattisgarh State Election Commissioner Ajay Singh was on a one-day visit to Sukma to take stock of the pre-poll preparations under the general elections of urban bodies and three-tier panchayats 2025. State Election Commission Secretary Dr. Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure and Nodal Officer Municipal Corporation and Panchayat Elections (Police) O.P. Pal were also present with him. State Election Commission Ajay Singh held a meeting of senior administrative officers of the district in the meeting hall located at the helipad of Sukma district and took information about the updated status of the elections in the district and gave necessary instructions. In the meeting, Collector Devesh Kumar Dhruv provided information regarding the necessary preparations for the smooth conduct and peaceful completion of urban body and three-tier panchayat elections. He informed that there are a total of 17 thousand 511 voters in urban bodies and 1 lakh 70 thousand 228 voters in three-tier Panchayats. There are 31 polling stations in urban bodies, out of which all are general polling stations on the basis of sensitivity. There are 375 polling stations for three-tier Panchayat elections, out of which 217 are sensitive and 104 are very sensitive polling stations. He informed about the physical condition of all polling stations in the district and talked about ensuring necessary arrangements for sensitive polling stations. Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan gave necessary information regarding adequate security arrangements for polling stations in the district.

After the meeting, State Election Commissioner Singh reached the polling station located in Prathmik Shaala Janpadapara Sukma. He took stock of the necessary arrangements for the voters at the polling station and gave necessary instructions. After this, Singh inspected the strong room and counting place built in Government ITI College. He gave instructions to ensure security arrangements in the strong room, CCTV and all other necessary basic requirements well in advance. State Election Commissioner Singh took information about electricity, drinking water, toilets, adequate barricading, parking arrangements, seating arrangements for election agents and counting room at the counting place and gave necessary instructions to the officers.

After inspecting the strong room, Singh visited the EVM awareness camp going on in Kumharras. He told the officials that there is a need for more publicity regarding EVM machines, because this time the voter will have to vote twice for the Mayor / Chairman and Councilor in the same machine. He asked the voters to be made aware by providing them as much information as possible about the EVM machine. He instructed the officials to ensure strict compliance of the code of conduct and to resolve the cases of violation of the code of conduct within the time limit. During this, he discussed with the voters who had come to get information about voting. He explained to the people that this time you have to vote for the posts of Councilor and Mayor / Chairman. You have to press the button twice in the EVM machine, due to which a beep sound will come both times. With this, your voting process will be completed. All of you should use your franchise wisely and thoughtfully. Election Commissioner Singh appreciated the election preparations being done by the district administration and gave necessary instructions to conduct the urban body and three-tier panchayat elections smoothly and peacefully. During the inspection, Bastar Division Commissioner Doman Singh, IG Bastar P Sundarraj, Collector Devesh Kumar Dhruv, Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan, District CEO Mrs. Namrata Jain, Additional Collector Gajendra Singh Thakur, Joint Collector Suraj Kashyap and officers and employees related to the election were present.
