Raipur, 22 June 2025-Union Home Minister Amit Shah today virtually inaugurated the temporary campus of National Forensic Science University (NFSU) located at Nava Raipur and I-Hub Raipur. On this occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that today is a historic day for Chhattisgarh in making the criminal justice system modern and scientific. Along with the temporary campus of NFSU, Bhoomi Pujan for the permanent campus in Nava Raipur and the establishment of Central Forensic Science Lab have also been started. These institutions are being developed at a total cost of Rs 268 crore. BSc, MSc Forensic Science, Cyber Security, Psychology, Digital Forensics and Professional Diploma courses will start from the session 2025-26 in the temporary campus. About 180 students will take admission in the first batch. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the construction of these institutions will provide a strong base in modern justice system and crime investigation not only to Chhattisgarh but to the whole of Central India. New forensic technologies, such as DNA fingerprinting, LSD science, cyber security, biotechnology and digital forensics will now be available locally, making the investigation process faster and accurate. He said that now there will be no need for the capital or Delhi for forensic investigation, all investigations will be possible in Atal Nagar, Nava Raipur itself.
Regarding the establishment of I-Hub, Union Home Minister Shah said that this platform will be helpful in connecting the youth of Chhattisgarh with the startup culture, providing technical assistance, providing funding and professional services like marketing and contract. He urged the youth to become industrialists themselves, start startups and become partners in the industrial development of the state. It is based on the model of I-Hub, Gujarat, and many global startups are likely to emerge from Raipur in future. Union Home Minister Shah said that after the formation of the new government in Chhattisgarh, MoUs have been signed on investment proposals worth Rs 5 lakh crore, which will boost employment, revenue and industrial culture. He praised the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Home Minister Vijay Sharma and said that both of them have given decisive momentum to the anti-Naxal campaign. This is the first time that security forces are active even during the rainy season and are not allowing the Naxalites to live in peace. He appealed to the Naxalites to surrender and join Chhattisgarh’s development journey.
The Union Home Minister said that the permanent campus of NFSU will be fully developed in three years, which will open up immense career possibilities in the forensic field for the youth of Chhattisgarh. He assured that graduation from NFSU under the Modi government will become a guarantee of employment. Also, with reference to the three new criminal laws implemented across the country, Shah said that their aim is to ensure justice within three years, and to establish a modern criminal justice system based on science-based evidence. He informed that forensic investigation has now been made mandatory in crimes with punishment of more than 7 years. All police stations have been connected to CCTNS, which will enable state governments to become technically efficient in the process of investigation and monitoring. This change will not only strengthen the judicial process, but will also bring India in the forefront of countries ensuring punishment from a scientific point of view.
Union Home Minister Shah also informed that 16 campuses of NFSU have been established across the country and 10 more are proposed. Forensic technology will play an important role in making India self-reliant. Referring to a recent survey, he said that by the year 2026, the global market of forensic technology will reach 55 billion US dollars and India’s share in it will increase rapidly. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said that this day is historic for Chhattisgarh because today the foundation of three important institutions has been laid simultaneously which will give a new identity to the state at the national and international level. The Chief Minister said that NFSU is the first and only university in the world which is completely dedicated to the study of subjects like forensic science, cyber security, behavioral science. Its Raipur campus will establish Nava Raipur as an emerging national educational center. This institute will become a strong base of law and order, judicial process and forensic research not only for Chhattisgarh but for the entire central India. The Chief Minister informed that the Chhattisgarh Government has provided 40 acres of land for the university in Banjari, Nava Raipur and has also played an important role in preparing the transit campus on time. Undergraduate, postgraduate and short-term courses will be conducted in various subjects including forensic science, digital forensics, psychology in this campus. Training in areas like cyber crime, road accident analysis, drug investigation will strengthen the law and order of the state. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, three new criminal laws have been implemented in the country after almost a century. Institutions like NFSU will play an important role in the effective implementation of these laws. The Chhattisgarh Government is providing necessary training and resources to the police force and investigative agencies to effectively implement these laws, which is also being continuously monitored. On this occasion, Chief Minister Sai, referring to the launch of I-Hub Chhattisgarh, said that this institute will become a powerful medium to connect the youth of the state with the world of startups and innovation. It will have state-of-the-art facilities of co-working space, which will encourage innovation. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that the Raipur campus of NFSU will bring revolutionary changes not only in training but also in forensic research and investigation. He underlined that this institute will not only become a center for studies, research, training and consultancy but will also play a leading role in innovation and manufacturing of forensic science related equipment in India itself. This dream is coming true under the guidance of Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah. Deputy Chief Minister Sharma informed that the Chhattisgarh government has allotted land for NFSU and the construction work is also going to start soon. He said that this campus will have all the state-of-the-art facilities, and it will make the youth skilled in forensic science, digital forensics, psychology and various short term courses. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the role of the forensic system is very important in the effective implementation of the three new criminal laws implemented by the Government of India, the Indian Judicial Code, the Indian Evidence Act and the Indian Civil Security Code. The Deputy Chief Minister informed that Chhattisgarh is among the leading states where NFSU is being established, while it has not yet started in states like Orissa, Bihar, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. This is a matter of pride for the state. He also informed that the state government has received approval of Rs 24 crore from the Center to establish mobile forensic units in 33 districts. Every district will have mobile vehicles, modern equipment and trained team so that accurate investigation of incidents can be possible on the spot. On this occasion, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and Arun Saw, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director Intelligence Bureau Tapan Kumar Deka, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Campus Director NFSU Gandhinagar Professor Dr. SO Junare and other public representatives and officials were present.
