Under Swachh Bharat Mission, the waste generated from the city is being recycled and reused
Bhopal. The debris generated from construction or reconstruction work being done in cities is called demolition waste. This waste is being recycled and reused by the Urban Development Department. Under Swachh Bharat Mission, concrete steps have been taken by the urban bodies to do this work.
Construction and demolition waste is being converted into “waste to wealth” by shaping bricks, tiles, paver blocks etc. The urban bodies are making reusable products from construction and demolition waste (C&D waste), so that there are no piles of debris in the open and the environment also remains clean. This waste is brought to the processing plant by the urban body through a debris collection vehicle. For this, toll-free helpline numbers have also been issued by the urban bodies.
Under Swachh Bharat Mission Urban in the state, a campaign was launched by the urban bodies for the collection of “C” and “D” waste. For “C” & “D” collection, extensive publicity was done through social media and garbage vehicles operating in the city. “C” & “D” waste lying unauthorisedly in the urban area was collected and transported to the processing unit. The prescribed fee for lifting construction and demolition waste was deposited by the citizens. 372 urban bodies of the state identified unauthorised “C” & “D” waste at 1318 places. 2428 tonnes of “C” & “D” was collected by the urban body and transported to the processing unit through vehicles.
