UCC is not against anyone, women will get equal rights: CM Dhami

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a workshop on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) at Dev Sanskriti University. The workshop was jointly organized by the Higher Education Department and the university. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister highlighted India’s progress towards becoming a developed nation by 2047 under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Uttarakhand: First State to Implement UCC  Dhami stated that under Prime Minister Modi’s guidance, Uttarakhand became the first state in India to implement the UCC. He emphasized that this law isn’t against anyone, nor does it target any particular religion or community. Its aim is to create a strong law that ensures equality and justice for every citizen by removing outdated and harmful social practices.

Equal Legal Rights for All The Chief Minister explained that the UCC grants equal legal rights to everyone in the state, particularly empowering women. He stressed that no woman will face discrimination in matters of inheritance or ancestral property. The UCC also includes provisions for registering live-in relationships. Dhami presented Uttarakhand as a role model for the rest of the country, reiterating that the UCC doesn’t conflict with any religion. He urged citizens to complete the necessary registrations under the UCC, clarifying that rumors about the registration process granting outsiders native status are false and baseless. The UCC contains no such provision.
