Tribal Museum will become a big centre of tourism and research in Chhattisgarh: Vishnu Dev Sai

Raipur 14 May 2025: In the tribal dominated state of Chhattisgarh, the state government has taken an innovative initiative to make tribal culture, civilization and their lifestyle accessible to the general public by building a tribal museum. For this, a grand and attractive tribal museum (tribal museum) has been built in an area of about 10 acres in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai inaugurated the state’s first tribal museum today. In the inauguration program, Chief Minister Sai first entered the newly built tribal museum by performing Dwar Puja and breaking Shriphal at the main gate as per tribal tradition. At the same time, in the entrance gallery, he worshiped nature power with Panchtatva and wished well. On this occasion, Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, Tribal Development Minister Ramvichar Netam were present. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, in his address, thanked the then Prime Minister, respected Atal Bihari Bajpai ji, the creator of Chhattisgarh, and said that Atal ji made Chhattisgarh a separate state keeping in mind the tribal dominated area. During Atal ji’s tenure, the Ministry of Tribal Welfare was formed in the Central Government for tribal development. At the same time, the successful Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji has implemented Dharti Aba Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan for the all-round development of tribals and PM Janman Yojana for special backward tribal groups.
Chief Minister Sai said that today in India, Mrs. Draupadi Murmu of the tribal community is adorning the highest post like the President. Chief Minister Sai said that the special identity of our Chhattisgarh state is our beautiful tribal culture. There is diversity in tribal culture in Chhattisgarh and every tribal community has its own unique identity. There are 43 tribal communities in the state and they have many sub-castes. Along with this, there are also special backward tribes in our state. The beautiful world of the tribal community, their food, clothing, music, folk art, musical instruments, dance, all these will be seen in the museum. It has 14 galleries and each gallery is built on a special theme. Chief Minister Sai said that this museum will not only preserve the traditions, art and culture of the tribal society, but will also play an important role in connecting the younger generation to their roots. The museum depicts the lifestyle, costumes, folk art, customs and religious beliefs of various tribal communities of Chhattisgarh through visual and digital mediums. Chief Minister Sai said that this museum shows a glimpse of the multi-coloured culture of our tribal areas. This glimpse will inspire the audience to visit Bastar and Surguja and see the things they have felt in this museum directly there.
Assembly Speaker Dr. Raman Singh, who was presiding over the inauguration program of the Tribal Museum, called the inauguration of the Tribal Museum a moment of pride. He said that the Tribal Museum has been built to present the tribal culture and their way of life in front of everyone in the tribal-dominated state. Tribal Development Minister Ramvichar Netam said that now people will get complete information about every tribal community living in Chhattisgarh at one place in the Tribal Museum. Tribal culture will be seen in 14 galleries: It is worth noting that there are a total of 14 galleries in the Tribal Museum, in which all aspects of tribal lifestyle have been beautifully displayed. These include geographical details of tribes, festivals, celebrations and special culture, housing and household equipment, hunting equipment, clothing and jewelry, agricultural techniques and equipment, tribal dance, tribal musical instruments, fire lighting, iron making, rope making, crop threshing (separating seeds from plants), catechu making, chivda-lai making, slow distillation, grain threshing and grinding, equipment and traditional techniques used for oil processing. Under cultural heritage, Gotul in Abujhmaria, Lal Bangla in Bhunjia tribe etc., traditional art skills of tribes like bamboo art, woodcraft, painting, tattoo art, sculpture etc. and in the last gallery, specialized aspects of particularly vulnerable tribal groups such as Abujhmaria, Baiga, Kamar, Pahadi Korwa, Birhor and Bhunjia and Pando recognized by the state government have been displayed. Tribal culture has also been displayed in the museum through digital and AI technology. On scanning the QR code, complete information related to the tableau will be available on the mobile.
Honoring the members of the story committee: Professors from various universities and officials of the society who were helpful in building the Tribal Museum were also honored from the stage by Chief Minister Sai. In the story committee at the Tribal Museum, Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University. Professor (Dr.) Ashok Pradhan of Anthropology Study Center, Dr. Kiran Nuruti of Government Gundadhur College, Gangaram Pankra, representative of Kanwar community, State President of Baiga community Itwari Ram Machia Baiga, State President of Binjhwar community Bedaram Bariha, President of Halba community Lateel Ram Naik, District President of Muria community Dhaniram Sori and District President of Rajgond community Tularam Thakur were honored. Encouraged the promising students of ‘Prayas’ by giving them certificates: On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai also met 112 students of ‘Prayas’ Residential School, who have succeeded in the main examination of JEE. The Chief Minister congratulated all the students and wished them a bright future. The Chief Minister said that the children of Prayas Residential School are an inspiration not only for themselves but for the entire tribal society and the state. Faces brightened on receiving the appointment letter The state government recently completed the recruitment process for 300 posts of hostel superintendents through Vyapam. In this the newly selected hostel superintendents were handed over the appointment letter cum posting letter. In the program 11 hostel superintendents were symbolically invited on the stage and were given the appointment letters by Chief Minister Sai.
During the inauguration program of the Tribal Museum, the guests planted saplings in the campus. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai planted Maulshree, Assembly Speaker planted Amaltas, Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu and Tribal Development Minister Ramvichar Netam planted Maulshree saplings. During the stage programme, Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw, Ministers Kedar Kashyap, OP Choudhary, Dayaldas Baghel, Lakhan Lal Dewangan, Tankaram Verma, Mrs. Laxmi Rajwade, Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, MP Brijmohan Agarwal, MLA Khuswant Saheb, Ishwar Sahu, Asharam Netam, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Rampratap Singh, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Plant Board Vikas Markam, Chairman of Oil Ghani Board Jitendra Sahu, Chairmen of several Corporations and Boards and Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain were present in the programme.
