Tourism development will be done by keeping environmental protection in mind: Chief Minister Dr. Yadav

Bhopal: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that it is necessary to take care of the environment in the efforts of tourism development. All tourism development projects will be implemented without harming nature and environment. Necessary decisions should be taken after proper examination in this regard. The fifth meeting of Madhya Pradesh State Wetland Authority was held in the ministry on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Yadav. State Minister for Forest and Environment Shri Dilip Ahirwar was present in the meeting.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav got information about the physical verification and demarcation work of wetlands in the state and directed to complete all the works. It was told in the meeting that according to ISRO-SAC-2021 (ISRO’s Space Application Center) Atlas, the work of physical verification and demarcation in the state is being done by the State Wetland Authority of the Environment Department. These wetlands are more than 2.25 hectares in area. This work is being done with the cooperation of the Revenue Department and the Forest Department and under the leadership of the concerned district administration. In the financial year ending on March 31, 2025, the ground verification of 13 thousand 454 wetlands and demarcation of 12 thousand 741 wetlands has been completed in the state. There are only a few wetlands left in the state, where this work is still going on. A new mobile app has also been prepared. For this work, online training has been provided to about 5 thousand employees in 55 districts of the state. A dashboard has been developed for monitoring.

Chief Secretary Mr. Anurag Jain said that the physical verification and demarcation work of wetlands should be reviewed regularly at the level of the Environment Department. Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura, Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development and Housing Department Mr. Sanjay Kumar Shukla, Additional Chief Secretary Forest Mr. Ashok Varnwal and other senior officials were present in the meeting.
