England’s star all-rounder Moeen Ali has announced his retirement from international cricket. He was not selected in the England team for the upcoming limited overs series against Australia. He last played for England against India in the T20 World Cup semi-final in Guyana on 27 June. India defeated the English team. 37-year-old Moeen said that this is the right time for him to retire from international cricket, so that the youth can get maximum opportunity in the team.
Moeen said in an interview to the Daily Mail, ‘I am 37 years old and I was not selected for the Australia series this month. I have played a lot of cricket for England. But now the time has come to give a chance to the next generation. I was also explained the same by England Cricket. I felt that this is the right time.’ Moeen, who made his international cricket debut for England in 2014, said, ‘I have completed my role for this team.’
