There will be a holiday on 26 August, so candidates can now withdraw nomination papers on 27th
Bhopal. Chief Election Officer Anupam Rajan said that under the Negotiable Instruments Act, there will be a holiday on 26 August on account of Janmashtami, so the process of withdrawal of nomination papers for Rajya Sabha by-election will now be held on 27 August. Earlier this process was to be held on 26 August.
Mr. Rajan said that the Election Commission of India has issued a notification regarding Madhya Pradesh Rajya Sabha by-election on 7 August. The process of filing nominations for Rajya Sabha by-election in the state is going on from 14 August, which will continue till Wednesday 21 August. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on Thursday 22 August.
Mr. Rajan said that voting will be held on 3 September from 9 am to 4 pm and counting of votes and declaration of results will be done on the same day.
