The great need of safe housing for working women will be fulfilled: Six women hostels will be built in Raipur and Bilaspur

202 crores approved by the Union Finance Ministry under special capital assistance

Three hostels will be built in Raipur, two in Bilaspur and one in Naya Raipur

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai thanked the Government of India for providing funds for safe and affordable housing for working women in cities

Raipur. 25 February 2025: The major need for safe and affordable housing for working women in Raipur and Bilaspur, the two largest cities of Chhattisgarh, will soon be met. The Union Finance Ministry has approved Rs 202 crore for six working women’s hostels in Raipur, Bilaspur and Naya Raipur under the Special Capital Assistance Scheme for States for Capital Investment 2024-25. With this amount, Raipur Municipal Corporation will build 250-250 seater women’s hostels in Telibandha and Tatibandh and 223-seater women’s hostels in Bhainsthan. At the same time, 224-224 seater hostels will be constructed by CSIDC in Tifra and Sirgitti of Bilaspur. Naya Raipur Atal Nagar Vikas Pradhikaran will build a 1000-seater hostel in Naya Raipur.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has expressed gratitude to the Government of India for providing funds for safe and affordable housing for working women in cities. Deputy Chief Minister Arun Saw said that to achieve the goal of good governance as well as women empowerment and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision ‘Developed India-2047’, the state government had sent a proposal to the Government of India to build working women hostels. He thanked the Government of India on behalf of the women of the state for its approval. He said that the construction of hostels will provide safe housing to working women in all three cities. Under special capital assistance, the Central Finance Ministry has sanctioned Rs 103 crore 22 lakh for a 1000-seater women’s hostel in Naya Raipur, Rs 15 crore 10 lakh and Rs 15 crore 5 lakh respectively for 250-seater hostels at Tatibandh and Telibandha in Raipur. Rs 17 crore 23 lakh has been sanctioned for a 223-seater hostel in Bhainsthan in Raipur. The Government of India has sanctioned Rs 26 crore 15 lakh and Rs 25 crore 25 lakh respectively for 224-seater hostels in Tifra and Sirgitti in Bilaspur.
