Raipur, 27 June 2025: This year also, Rath Yatra festival was organized with traditional reverence, devotion and grandeur in the historic and ancient Jagannath Temple Dokra of Jashpur district. Before the departure of the Rath Yatra from the temple, Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai and his wife Kaushalya Devi Sai prayed to Lord Jagannath, brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra in the Jagannath temple with full rituals and prayed for the happiness, prosperity and welfare of the people of the state. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai performed the ritual of Chhera-Pahara by sweeping the route of the Rath Yatra with a broom. Chief Minister Sai participated in the Rath Yatra with devotion along with thousands of devotees. The devotees pulled the chariot of Lord Jagannath, brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra forward by pulling the rope. The entire atmosphere reverberated with the chanting of Jai Jagannath, Bhajans and devotional gaiety. The Rath Yatra reached Mausibari via the main roads. Lord Jagannath, brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra will stay in Mausibari, their aunt’s house, for nine days. The auspicious return will be on the ninth day, July 5, at the Jagannath Temple, Dokra. This event has been organized in accordance with the tradition of Puri Dham in Odisha.
The tradition of Rath Yatra continues in Dokra since 1942. The Rath Yatra started in Dokra in the year 1942. It was started with devotion and dedication by Late Sudarshan Satpathy and his wife Late Sushila Satpathy. Since then, this tradition continues uninterrupted with devotion and enthusiasm. With time, this event has now taken the form of a grand religious fair, in which a huge participation of devotees is seen. On the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra, the Kirtan troupes invited from Odisha gave enchanting performances of devotional music, which made the atmosphere devotional. Along with this, many religious and cultural tableaux were also included in the Rath Yatra, which were displaying the glory of Lord Jagannath and the grandeur of our cultural diversity in a very attractive manner.
Religious festival will last for nine days Members of Jagannath Temple Committee Dokra said that the Rath Yatra Mahaparva is celebrated as a grand religious and cultural festival for nine days. On this occasion, the temple complex and Dokra village are drenched in full devotion and enthusiasm. During the entire festival, various religious rituals, bhajans, musical presentations, cultural programs as well as various competitions for children and youth are organized, which fills the entire area with spiritual energy and cultural colors. A huge fair has also been organized in Dokra to commemorate the Rath Yatra, which further enhances the beauty of this festival. Swings, stalls of delicious dishes, traditional handicraft shops and other attractions are present in the fair premises for entertainment. Which becomes the center of joy for everyone. This event is a wonderful confluence of faith, culture and social harmony.
