
9 girls of Ichakala hostel selected in Under-15 state team

Raipur, 08 May 2025: In the trial competition organized by Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association for the selection of the state team, 9 girls of Government Pre-Matric Girls Hostel Ichakala of Jashpur district have made their place in the Under-15 team by performing brilliantly. 6 students of Ichakala hostel of Jashpur have reached the next round of the Under-19 trial competition. A total of 15 girl students of Ichakala hostel have brought laurels to Jashpur district due to their cricket talent. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has praised the cricket talent of the daughters of Jashpur district and congratulated and wished them for this great achievement. The Chief Minister has said that this glorious achievement is a matter of pride not only for Jashpur, but for the entire Chhattisgarh. He said that the Chhattisgarh government is giving all possible help for the development of sports and to promote the players. Injil Lakra, Jigyasa Kujur, Amisha Lakra, Ritu Bhagat, Purvanshi Sahu, Sakshi Yadav, Gayatri Bai, Abhilashi Bada and Santoshi Bai have been selected for the State Under-15 team. Similarly, Akanksha Rani, Varsha Bai, Nitika Bai, Jhumur Tirkey, Tulsika Bhagat and Alka Rani Kujur have reached the next round of trials for the Under-19 team, this trial will be held on 08 May from 7 am at RDCA Ground Raipur.
It is worth noting that the dedication of Ichkela hostel superintendent Mrs. Pandri Bai not only promoted sports in the hostel, but the tribal daughters there have started making Jashpur district proud in the game of cricket. It is worth mentioning here that Superintendent Mrs. Pandari Bai’s daughter Akanksha Rani, who belongs to the Pahari Korwa community, has made her mark as a key player of the Chhattisgarh team in the Under-19 BCCI T-20 Trophy. Akanksha Rani’s brilliant performance attracted other girls living in the hostel towards the game of cricket, due to which Ichkela hostel has become famous for the game of cricket. Cricket coach Santosh Kumar, mentor Shankar Soni and hostel warden Mrs. Pandari Bai have played an important role in the girls studying here. It is worth mentioning that this hostel is located in the home district of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai. Under his leadership, special attention is being paid to the integrated development of education and sports in tribal areas. It is the result of the Chief Minister’s inspiration and the state government’s schemes that today the daughters of Chhattisgarh are bringing glory to the state and the country in the cricket field.
