Surrendered Naxalites and Naxal-affected families will get housing under rehabilitation policy: Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai

Approval of 15,000 houses received from Government of India on the initiative of Chief Minister Sai

Raipur 29 November 2024: Chhattisgarh government has taken a historic step for the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites and Naxal-affected families. On the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai, the Central Government has approved 15,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana.

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai said that this initiative is a big step to connect surrendered Naxalites and victim families living in Naxal-affected areas to the mainstream. 15,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana are not just houses but a symbol of respect and security for those families. Our government will implement this scheme with complete transparency and promptness. He said that this scheme is a revolutionary step towards the development and peace establishment of the state. He said that our government is committed to give a better life to Naxal-affected families and surrendered Naxalites. Providing housing to the affected families will prove to be a milestone in providing a safe and respectable life to the families living in Naxal-affected areas. This scheme will be helpful in achieving the goals of social harmony and development.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma informed that this scheme will especially include those families whose names were not included in the list of Socio Economic Caste Census 2011 and Awas Plus 2018. The Central Government has given permission to upload these names on the Awas Plus portal by 6 December 2024. Deputy Chief Minister Sharma met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and requested for approval to provide housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for surrendered Naxalites and Naxal-affected families, as a result of which approval for 15 thousand houses has been given by the Government of India.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that under this special project, the Superintendent of Police will provide the list of surrendered Naxalites and Naxal-affected families to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the district, District Panchayat. After this, this list will be surveyed and verified by the District Panchayat. After verification, the land will be marked for the beneficiaries through the collector. On this basis, the process of housing construction will begin as per the guidelines of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
