Sports news : Yashasvi Jaiswal lags behind Kambli despite stormy batting
The new sensation of Indian cricket, Yashasvi Jaiswal is doing record-breaking batting. Be it scoring 2 consecutive double centuries or scoring 1000 runs in the fewest matches… this 22 year old batsman has made many records in his name. But Sunil Gavaskar’s 52 year old record seems to be going away from him. Yashasvi has already missed Vinod Kambli’s record of scoring 1000 runs in the shortest innings. Kambli had achieved this feat in the 14th innings, whereas Yashasvi had to bat in 16 innings for this.
Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 57 runs in his first innings of the fifth Test being played against England (India vs England) in Dharamsala. He hit 5 fours and 3 sixes in his innings of 58 balls. The way Yashasvi was batting, it seemed that he would break Sunil Gavaskar’s Indian record of scoring most runs in a series.
Sunil Gavaskar had scored 774 runs in a series on the West Indies tour in 1971. To break this record of Gavaskar, Yashasvi Jaiswal has to score 120 runs in the Dharamshala Test. But he was out after scoring 57 runs in the first innings. In this way, he is still 63 runs away from breaking Sunny’s record.
