Australia’s Alex de Minaur displayed an amazing game and won the Mexico Open tennis tournament title for the second consecutive year by defeating Casper Ruud in straight sets. De Minaur defeated Ruud 6–4, 6–4 in the final. This is the first time since 2012 that a player has successfully defended his title here.
This is the eighth ATP title for third seed De Minaur. He is the fourth player to defend his title at the Mexico Open. Before him, David Ferrer had won three consecutive titles from 2010 to 2012. This 25-year-old player from Australia has won 10 consecutive matches in Mexico Open. With this victory, he also broke the sequence of four consecutive defeats in the finals of ATP competitions.
Marta and Katie reach San Diego Open final
Sixth-seeded Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine made a spectacular comeback from an early deficit to defeat top-seeded Jessica Pegula to reach the final of the San Diego Open tennis tournament. Kostyuk defeated Pegula 7-6(4), 6-1. She will face qualifier Katie Boulter in the final, who defeated third seed Emma Navarro 6-3, 6-1 in the other semi-final.
