Solar power plant built on rooftop as power generator, electricity bill reduced, no worry of maintenance

Raipur, 14 August 2025: Work is progressing rapidly under the Pradhan Mantri Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme in Chhattisgarh. Ever since Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has announced a subsidy of thirty thousand rupees by the state government in this scheme, people are rapidly applying to install solar plants. Pradeep Mishra, a resident of Lochan Nagar of Municipal Corporation Raigarh, is not only reducing the electricity consumption of his house by taking advantage of this ambitious scheme, but is also making a commendable contribution to environmental protection. By installing a solar power plant on the roof of his house, Mishra’s house electricity bill has been halved. Once the plant is installed, there is no worry about its maintenance, repair or maintenance. Mishra has installed a 3 kW solar rooftop panel on the roof of his house. Earlier he had limited knowledge about solar energy, but after getting information about the scheme from the Electricity Department, he got this system installed with the technical assistance of the department. He took a loan from Gramin Bank for the total cost, in which he got a subsidy of Rs 78,000 from the Central Government and Rs 30,000 from the State Government. He said that after installing solar panels, his electricity bill has reduced. Earlier, about 550 units of electricity was consumed per month, but in the month of August it is estimated to decrease to about 300 units.
Mishra said that this scheme not only leads to economic savings, but environmental pollution can also be reduced by using clean energy. Mishra also appealed to other citizens of the district to take advantage of the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Under the scheme, different subsidies are given by the government on solar panels of different capacities and quick installation is done with the help of the electricity department. The benefit of this scheme is being given to the consumers under a completely online process. Under this, consumers can apply by logging on to the online portal cgiti.admissions.nic.in or by using the PM Suryaghar mobile app, CSPDCL website, More Bijli app and by calling the power company’s toll-free number 1912.
