Sewerage project work in Chhindwara in final stage
Bhopal. Work on sewerage project in Chhindwara is going on at a fast pace with the help of World Bank by Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company under Urban Development and Housing Department, which is almost nearing completion. The project has a target of connecting 20 thousand 100 houses. Against the target, more than 15 thousand houses have been connected to the sewerage network. The total cost of the project is about Rs 237 crore. This also includes maintenance and operation for 10 years.
A sewerage treatment plant of 28 MLD capacity is being constructed in Sarra area of Chhindwara for proper disposal of sewage. Its construction work is also almost complete. 257 km of sewerage line has been laid to implement sewerage disposal smoothly. The work of permanent road restoration is also nearing completion.
Representatives of voluntary organizations have launched an awareness campaign by going door to door to encourage citizens to take sewerage connection. The result of this was that the general public was motivated to take sewerage connection voluntarily. Another feature of the project is that the treated water of sewerage will also be used for purposes like gardening, fire fighting and irrigation. A target has been set to start the experimental testing of Chhindwara sewerage project from the coming month of November.
