School Education Minister Shri Singh inaugurated the 68th National School Sports Competition

Bhopal: School Education Minister Shri Uday Pratap Singh inaugurated the 68th National School Sports Competition organized at Government Subhash Utkrisht Uchchatar Madhyamik Vidyalaya Bhopal on Thursday. This competition is being organized from 2 January to 7 January under the joint aegis of School Games Federation of India and Directorate of Public Instruction. Around 1391 students from 35 states will participate in hockey and shooting games in the competition.

Welcoming the participants, their parents and trainers in the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, Minister Mr. Singh said that this event reflects the diversity of India. There has been a confluence of different languages, cultures, attires and religious beliefs. Mr. Singh said that winning is important in sports, but moving forward with full preparation and new challenge after defeat is the real sportsmanship. He said that the winner should be congratulated, but if the losers also work hard for the next time, then victory will be assured.

Minister Mr. Singh said that it would be appropriate to call Bhopal the hockey capital because many players from here have represented India at the national and international level. Hockey has contributed in winning the most gold medals. He said that after the Fit India Movement started under the leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, there has been a sports revolution in the country. India’s performance has improved in the Olympics, World Games, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. Minister Mr. Singh, while motivating the young talents, said that big players emerge from small events, like recently Manu Bhaker brought laurels to India at the world level. He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, sports activities, basic facilities and infrastructure are being developed in Madhya Pradesh. Sports facilities are also being provided in government schools. In the coming times, Madhya Pradesh will become an ideal state for sports.

On this occasion, National School Games Observer Dr. Mukesh Aggarwal, Commissioner Directorate of Public Instruction Mrs. Manisha Setia, and Joint Director Directorate of Public Instruction Mr. Arvind Chorgade were also present.
