Sanju Samson has expressed his desire to play Tests in front of Rohit-Gambhir
Sanju Samson, who scored a century in the recently played three-match T20 series against Bangladesh, has now expressed his desire to play Test cricket. He himself has revealed this. Samson’s place in Team India in white ball cricket is not confirmed yet. He has been a part of the T20 team for some time now, but is not playing ODIs. He has been a part of the Indian squad many times, but has got less chance to play. This can be gauged from the fact that Samson, who made his international debut in 2015, has played only 16 ODIs and 33 T20s so far. However, now he has expressed his desire to play Tests to captain Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir. Rohit and Gambhir have also given him a positive response to this. Both of them feel that Samson can do well in Tests.
In an interview with Sportstar, Samson revealed how confident he is to succeed in red-ball cricket but is still waiting to be given an opportunity by the BCCI selection committee in this format. Samson said, ‘I believe that I have the skill set to succeed in red-ball cricket and I do not want to limit myself to white-ball cricket. My desire is to play Test cricket for India. Before the Duleep Trophy, the BCCI and the team management (including captain-coach) told me that they were considering my name for Test cricket and asked me to take it seriously and play Ranji Trophy matches.
