Sales of passenger vehicles cross 3.38 lakh

Wholesale sales of passenger vehicles in the country increased marginally by 1.17 percent year-on-year to 3,38,341 units in April, 2024. A total of 3,32,468 passenger vehicles were sold in the same period a year ago. Demand for vehicles has remained almost stable due to high comparative base effect and general elections. During this period, a slight increase in domestic wholesale sales of Maruti Suzuki India, Hyundai and Tata Motors has been recorded. According to the data, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,37,952 passenger vehicles in April. This figure is more than 1,37,320 units in April, 2023. Hyundai Motor India’s passenger vehicle sales increased by one percent to 50,201 units. Tata Motors passenger vehicle sales increased by 2 percent to 47,883 units.

Maruti’s senior executive officer (marketing and sales) Partho Banerjee said, elections are going on in the country right now and the model code of conduct is in force. The market is a bit sluggish during the elections. Once the elections are over I think we will see a different market.
