Tinu Anand, who has directed veteran actors from Amitabh Bachchan to Shashi Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor, spoke openly to the media recently. He remembered Shashi Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor and shared his experience of working with them.
Shashi Kapoor was ‘taxi actor’
Tinu Anand started his film directorial career with the film ‘Duniya Meri Jeb Mein’. He had signed Rishi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor in this film. In those days, Shashi Kapoor used to work in five shifts in a day. Remembering his first film, Tinu says, ‘Shashi ji had given me the morning shift. I used to shoot films with him from seven in the morning to nine in the morning. Because of this shifty style of Shashi ji, Raj Kapoor Sahab used to call him ‘Taxi Actor’.
Rishi Kapoor did not wake up early
It is noteworthy that it took a lot of time to complete the film ‘Duniya Meri Jeb Mein’. This film was completed in about five years. Regarding this, Tinu Anand says, ‘Shashi Kapoor used to leave after working in the morning shift. At the same time, Rishi ji did not like to wake up early. He used to come to the set after ten o’clock. Both the actors were rarely present together on the film sets. Now how could the film be completed quickly in such a situation. This was the only reason why it took so much time to complete my first film. Tinu Anand further says, ‘Rishi Kapoor did this film of mine for absolutely free because he used to be a friend of my elder brother.’
