Renowned Filmmaker Prakash Jha Meets Chief Minister Dhami

DehradunChief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed the acclaimed filmmaker and director Prakash Jha at the Chief Minister’s camp office. During their meeting, Jha expressed his interest in filming in Uttarakhand. He noted that there is a growing trend among people in the film industry to shoot movies in the state. Chief Minister Dhami assured Jha that he would receive all possible support for filming in Uttarakhand. He highlighted that the state offers numerous attractive locations for movie shoots. Additionally, a new Film Policy 2024 has been introduced in Uttarakhand, which includes a single-window system for obtaining shooting permits.

For films in Hindi and those in languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, the state provides a grant of 30% of the total expenditure, with a maximum limit of ₹3 crore. Similarly, foreign films and those with a budget exceeding ₹50 crore are also eligible for a grant of 30% of their expenditure, capped at ₹3 crore. By promoting film production, the state aims to boost tourism as well. Present at the meeting was Banshidhar Tiwari, the CEO of the Uttarakhand Film Development Council and the Director General of Information.
