Rationalization campaign of Chhattisgarh government became the key to balance

More teachers than registered number in Dharsiwan

Raipur, 29 May 2025: The Chhattisgarh government has taken several meaningful initiatives to make education effective and inclusive in the state of Chhattisgarh. One of these initiatives is the rationalization of schools and teachers, whose main objective is to post teachers in proportion to the number of students registered in government schools. This initiative will not only improve the quality of education, but will also increase the pace of studies in such schools, where there has been a teacher crisis for years. Anomaly revealed in Dharsiwan development block In a recent review done in Dharsiwan development block of Raipur district, many such schools have come to the fore, where the number of students is relatively less, but there are more teachers posted there than required. For example, there are only 33 girl students in Government Pre Madhyamik Shala Kanya Saraswati Nayapara, while 7 teachers are posted. 82 students are studying in Government Pre Madhyamik Shala Kanya Ravigram and 8 teachers are working. There are 104 students in Government Primary School Mana Camp and 11 teachers are posted there. There are 109 students in Government Primary School Telibandha Raipur, while there are 9 teachers. There are 98 students and 10 teachers working in Government Pre Madhyamik School P.L.Y., Baronbazar. These figures make it clear that some schools have more teachers than required, while in many other areas of the state, especially in remote and forest areas, where the number of students is high, there is a huge shortage of teachers. This inequality is becoming a big obstacle in the way of children’s right to education and quality based education.

Rationalization is a strategy of balance and improvement. The Chhattisgarh government has decided to rationalize to remove this imbalance. Under this policy, a thorough study of the student-teacher ratio in schools is being done to determine where how many teachers are actually needed and where they are in excess. Surplus teachers will be posted in schools where required, so that all students can get quality education. This process is actually to ensure the availability of teachers in proportion to the number of students. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has clarified that the priority of his government is to provide quality education to children, whether they study in the capital or in a remote village of Bastar. He has directed the education department to ensure that there is no shortage of teachers in any school and every child gets equal opportunities. Sai says, teachers are the backbone of our education system, but when they are concentrated in one place in more numbers than required, it creates educational imbalance in other areas. We will remove this imbalance through rationalization. This reform in the field of education is not just an administrative change, but it is a proof of the Chhattisgarh government’s commitment towards equality, justice and quality.
