Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that the Ratapani Tiger Reserve of the state will be named after the world famous archaeologist Dr. Vishnu Wakankar. The world heritage Bhimbetka located in the Ratapani Tiger Reserve has gained recognition as a result of the tireless efforts of Dr. Wakankar. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the people of the state for granting permission for the Ratapani Tiger Reserve to further enrich the wildlife wealth of the state. He said that Bhopal is the only capital among all the state capitals of the country, which has a Tiger Reserve in its courtyard. Bhopal residents and the people of the state deserve congratulations for this honor. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inaugurated the Ratapani Tiger Reserve from Jhiri Gate. The Chief Minister flagged off the unique bike rally of “Virasat se Vikas” started for awareness regarding the Tiger Reserve from Gol Jod on Kolar Road. Revealing the thrill of this achievement, an innovation was done to spread awareness by taking out a bike rally on the inauguration of Ratapani Tiger Reserve. Tiger Reserve has created a huge possibility for tourism activities in Bhopal. Employment, skill and entrepreneurship opportunities will be available from hotels, lodges and other tourism facilities. Features of Ratapani Tiger Reserve Ratapani has always been the home of tigers. Ratapani Sanctuary is being upgraded to Ratapani Tiger Reserve. This will give Bhopal a new identity as the Tiger Capital not only in India but in the entire world. The number of tigers in the Ratapani Sanctuary has increased steadily, making this area an important habitat for tigers. Ratapani was declared a wildlife sanctuary in the year 1976. Ratapani is not only home to tigers but also to many other wildlife. This is a place where people will be able to see the diversity of nature closely. The total area of ​​​​Ratapani Sanctuary in Raisen and Sehore districts is about 1272 square kilometers, which has been notified earlier. Currently, out of the total area of ​​​​the reserve, 763 square kilometers has been declared as the core area. This is the area where tigers will be able to roam freely without any human interference. The remaining 507 square kilometers have been declared as the buffer area. This area is located around the core area and can be used for local communities with some restrictions. The livelihood of the local people living around Ratapani is linked to this area.
