Raigarh Medical College became the state’s first government medical college with free Wi-Fi facility

Patients in OPD registration area will get great relief in registration through Aabha App
Raipur, 27 March 2025: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai, continuous work is being done to connect the facilities of the citizens with digital and smart services. In this sequence, the public area (including waiting hall) of the OPD registration counter at Late Lakhiram Agarwal Smriti Government Medical College, Raigarh has been converted into a free Wi-Fi zone. This facility has been started for the first time in any government medical college of the state. This innovative initiative has been implemented under the continuous guidance of Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal and Finance Minister O. P. Choudhary, under the direction of Dean Dr. Vineet Jain and Hospital Superintendent Dr. M.K. Minj. A concrete step towards promoting digital health, the free Wi-Fi facility aims to overcome the problems faced by the patients and their families coming to the OPD in digital registration through the Aabha App. M.R.D. In this area under the department, patients will now be able to obtain registration tokens directly from their mobile phones through the Aabha app, making the process of getting a prescription simpler, faster and transparent.
Dr. M.K. Minj informed that the hospital management had received information that many patients were facing difficulty in registering with Aabha App due to mobile network problem. Especially, due to the medical college being located in a hilly area, this problem persists. Keeping these technical constraints in mind, it was decided to provide free Wi-Fi facility in the OPD registration area. With this facility, patients and their families can now easily register with Aabha App without any network hindrance, which will not only increase convenience but also save time. It is noteworthy that as per the instructions issued by the National Medical Commission (NMC) on June 4, 2024, all medical colleges have to ensure that the registration of patients coming for OPD/IPD/emergency services is done only through Aabha ID. For compliance with this guideline, clear instructions have also been issued by the Commissioner, Medical Education, Chhattisgarh that to ensure recognition of the medical college, all patients should be registered through Aabha App only. Keeping these guidelines and patient facilities in mind, free Wi-Fi facility has been formally started in the OPD area of Raigarh Medical College from today. This initiative puts Raigarh Medical College in the forefront of medical institutions with technological integration in Chhattisgarh and it is definitely a commendable and exemplary step towards the Digital Health Mission.
