Putin took oath as President for the fifth time

Russian President Vladimir Putin took over as president for the fifth time at a grand ceremony in the Kremlin on Tuesday and expressed confidence that his country will emerge stronger despite the difficult circumstances caused by the Ukraine conflict. He also said that Moscow is ready for talks with the West.

Mr Putin’s new six-year presidential term is until 2030. Mr Putin administered the oath to the people of Russia in the presence of members of the Federation Council, members of the State Duma and judges of the Russian Constitutional Court. Justice Valery Zorkin, Chairman of the Constitutional Court, officially declared Vladimir Putin the new President of the Russian Federation.

Later, President of Russia and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Armed Forces Vladimir Putin reviewed the Presidential Regiment on Cathedral Square on the occasion of his inauguration. The President congratulated the Presidential Regiment on its 88th anniversary. Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia held a thanksgiving service in the Annunciation Cathedral in the Kremlin.
