Proposal to include Paw caste in the list of Scheduled Tribes of Chhattisgarh sent to Government of India
Raipur. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has taken a sensitive initiative to include Pabiya, Pawiya, Pawiya caste of Chhattisgarh, which has been waiting to get Scheduled Tribe certificate for years, in the list of Scheduled Tribes along with Paw caste. The Chief Minister has sent the ethnic study report of these castes along with recommendations to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India for further action.
The delegation of Paw, Pabiya, Pawiya, Pawiya castes from across the state, led by MLA Shri Ramkumar Yadav, met Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai in the committee room of the Assembly today and expressed gratitude for his sensitive initiative.
Chief Minister Sai, while addressing the delegation, said that you people had been demanding inclusion in the list of Scheduled Tribes for a long time. The report along with recommendations has been sent to the Government of India by the State Government. It is hoped that it will have positive results. He thanked the delegation for coming to Raipur from across the state during the rainy season.
The delegation told the Chief Minister that during the time of Madhya Pradesh, their Scheduled Tribe certificates were being made, but due to quantitative error, the certificates have been stopped for the last 22 years, due to which our children are not getting the benefits of Scheduled Tribe category. Our children are not able to progress in studies. They thanked Chief Minister Shri Sai for sending a report with recommendations to the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
The delegation told that the population of these castes in the entire state is about 22 thousand. Although these people are found in the entire state, but they mainly live in Chandrapur, Raigarh, Lalunga, Kharsia, Pendra, Marwahi and Jashpur.
The Tribal Research and Training Institute of Chhattisgarh has prepared a report after conducting an ethnic study of Paw, Pabiya, Pavia, Pawiya castes, in which it has been recommended to include these castes in the Scheduled Tribes on the basis of characteristics.
MLA Ramkumar Yadav said that Chief Minister Shri Sai is a sensitive Chief Minister. The people of the caste present today are actually tribals, but they are not getting the benefits. The Chief Minister has taken a good initiative in their interest. He requested to provide land in Raipur for the community’s social building.
The Chief Minister has felt the pain of the tribes closely
It is worth noting that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai himself is from the Scheduled Tribe category. He has worked for the Scheduled Tribes including Birhor, Pahadi Korwa since the beginning of his public life, so he knows the pain of the tribes very well.
