
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Honours Sanskrit Students, Emphasizes Preservation and Growth
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored 261 students associated with Sanskrit education at an event organized by the Sanskrit Education Department at the Chief Minister’s residence. During the event, he encouraged meritorious students through various scholarship programs.
Recognizing Excellence in Sanskrit Education
Under the 2024-25 Sanskrit Student Talent Honor Scheme, CM Dhami awarded 24 outstanding students from Class 10 and 12. The top three students received cash prizes of ₹5,100, ₹4,100, and ₹3,100, respectively. Additionally, 148 students were honored under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Scheduled Caste-Tribe Sanskrit Scholarship Scheme 2024-25.
Encouraging Sanskrit Students
Addressing the students, CM Dhami reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting Sanskrit. He announced the launch of the ‘Gargi Sanskrit Girls’ Scholarship Scheme’, aimed at encouraging female students in Sanskrit schools. Under this initiative, girls from all backgrounds studying in Sanskrit schools will receive an annual scholarship of ₹3,012.
Government Initiatives for Sanskrit Education
To recognize and reward talent in Sanskrit, the Sanskrit Student Talent Honor Scheme has been introduced. Under this program, students securing the highest marks in Sanskrit in high school and intermediate exams are awarded cash prizes of ₹5,100, ₹4,100, and ₹3,100.
Development of Sanskrit Villages
CM Dhami also highlighted the government’s efforts to develop one Sanskrit village in each of the 13 districts of Uttarakhand. Through the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy, Haridwar, the government is organizing various national-level events such as All India Research Conference, Astrology Conference, Vedic Conference, Kavi Sammelan, Sanskrit Skill Development Training, and Student Competitions to promote Sanskrit as the ‘language of the gods.’
