Prime Minister Prachanda's test today, brainstorming on the formation of a new coalition government

The leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) and ‘CPN-UML’ brainstormed on the formation of a new coalition government before the floor test of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ on Friday. ‘CPN-UML’ leader KP Sharma Oli and the Nepali Congress, who are part of the ruling coalition, have issued whips to the party MPs. Prachanda will be tested in Parliament on Friday, in which the government is sure to fall.

NC, the largest party in Nepal’s 275-member House of Representatives, currently has 89 seats, while CPN-UML has 78 seats. Prachanda’s party has only 32 seats as against the majority of 138 seats in the lower house. Oli said that this is necessary for political stability and development of the country. According to the agreement, Oli-Deuba will be PM for three years in turn.
