Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Abhanpur-Raipur MEMU train service

Raipur, 30 March 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off the Abhanpur-Raipur MEMU train service through video conferencing during a program organized at Mohbhatta Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh. On this occasion, Prime Minister Modi dedicated four completed railway projects to the nation at a cost of Rs 2,695 crore and laid the foundation stone of 7 railway projects. This is a big step towards the development of rail facilities in Chhattisgarh and affordable and smooth transportation to the passengers. These projects will also give new impetus to the industrial development of Chhattisgarh. With the start of MEMU train between Raipur and Abhanpur, travel will be affordable and easy for the common people. This train will stop at Mandir Hasaud, CBD, Kendri and Abhanpur stations. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the third railway line laid from Rajnandgaon-Bortlav at a cost of 747 crores, Mandir Hasaud-Kendri-Abhanpur new railway line at a cost of 353 crores, Durg-Raipur automatic signaling system at a cost of 88 crores as well as 100 percent electrification of rail network in Chhattisgarh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Kharsia-Jharadih fifth rail line, Sargbundia-Madwarani third-fourth rail line, Dadhapara-Bilha-Dagori fourth rail line, Nipania-Bhatapara-Hathband fourth rail line, Bhilai-Bhilai Nagar-Durg Link Cabin fourth rail line, Rajnandgaon-Dongargarh fourth rail line, and Kargi Road-Salka Road third rail line. Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap, while addressing the people present at a brief program organized at Abhanpur railway station on this occasion, said that development of rail facilities is important for the economic and social development of the state. Expansion of rail connectivity will open new opportunities for employment and business in remote areas, which will especially benefit tribal and rural areas. MP Brijmohan Agarwal enthusiastically welcomed the MEMU train launched between Raipur and Abhanpur. He said that local trade and transport will get a boost. He urged the officials to expand rail facilities to remote areas like Bastar, Surguja and Jashpur in future so that a large part of Chhattisgarh is connected with the railway network. MLA Rajesh Moonat, Sunil Kumar Soni, Purandar Mishra, Motilal Sahu, Guru Khuswant Saheb, Indra Kumar Sahu, Mayor Mrs. Meenal Choubey, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vishwadeep, District Panchayat CEO Kumar Biswaranjan and other officers and employees were also present in the program.
