Price of onion, tomato and potato increased, vegetarian thali became costlier by 8% in April
Vegetarian thali has become costlier by 8 percent due to increase in prices of onion, tomato and potato. According to Crisil report, a vegetarian thali cost Rs 27.4 in April this year, which was Rs 25.40 in the same period a year ago. It was Rs 27.3 in March this year.
According to Crisil’s report released on Wednesday, the price of onion increased by 41 percent, tomato by 40 percent and potato by 38 percent in April this year as compared to a year ago. Due to failure of Rabi crop, the arrival of onion reduced, due to which the prices increased. Potato crop got damaged in West Bengal also. The price of vegetables has increased by 28 percent.
Non-vegetarian: Rs 56.30
Non-vegetarian thali has become cheaper by four percent from Rs 58.90 in April to Rs 56.3. Chicken prices have fallen 12 percent on an annual basis. However, it has become costlier by three percent compared to March.
