Prepare proposals for dismantling old hostels of Scheduled Castes and constructing new buildings: Minister Chauhan
Bhopal. Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Nagar Singh Chauhan said during the review meeting of Scheduled Caste Welfare Department in the Ministry that instructions were given to prepare proposals for dismantling old hostels of Scheduled Castes and constructing new buildings, so that no incident occurs in the hostels. Minister Shri Chauhan said that facilities should be increased in the hostels, so that parents feel confident in sending their children to the hostels. Hostels will be well equipped, due to which children will concentrate on studies. He instructed that all divisional officers should inspect the hostels from time to time and inform me about it.
Scheduled Caste Minister Shri Chauhan said that telephones should be installed in all the hostels as an innovation, so that the students living in the hostels can talk to their parents from time to time. Minister Shri Chouhan reviewed the development related schemes of Scheduled Caste Department such as hostel operation, scholarship provision, incentives for education, grant schemes, training and self-employment, infrastructure development and untouchability eradication and protection of rights of Scheduled Castes and Tribes.
Minister Shri Nagar obtained division wise information about the status of post matric college scholarship, post matric class 11th and 12th scholarship. He said that budget provision should be increased in relation to scholarship. Minister Shri Nagar directed to provide housing assistance amount to regular students at college level outside home residence in the Housing Assistance Scheme within the time limit as per rules. He expressed dissatisfaction over the low percentage of examination results in Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur and Ujjain in Gyanodya Residential School. He said that for this a meeting of the principals of Gyanodya Residential School should be called and information should be taken from them in this regard.
Minister Shri Chouhan said that before approving the grant amount in non-government grant receiving institutions, it should be tested. He said that the Savitribai Phule Self-Help Group Scheme should be extended to women doing small businesses especially in Ratlam, Alirajpur and Jhabua districts. Minister Shri Chauhan also sought information regarding the loans disbursed under Sant Ravidas Self-Employment Scheme and Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Economic Welfare Scheme.
