Powerlifting Championship winner Bhagwat Rao meets Chief Minister

J. Bhagwat Rao of Bhilai, winner of three bronze medals in the Asian Men’s Equipped Powerlifting Championship, met Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai at his residence office on Wednesday. Rao performed excellently in the 66 kg category of the Asian Men’s Equipped Powerlifting Championship held in Hong Kong from 5 to 11 May and secured the overall third position. He has also won a bronze medal in the Scott competition, bronze medal in bench press and bronze medal in deadlift competition held under this competition.

Chief Minister Sai congratulated and wished him for this achievement. The Chief Minister said that this great achievement of yours has also made the state proud. This will inspire emerging players and will also send a positive message to the youth to make sports their career.

Powerlifter player J. Bhagwat Rao of Bhilai has been consistently performing brilliantly in international and national competitions. He has earlier won medals in many competitions including bronze medal in Federation Cup Men’s Powerlifting Championship held in Indore, bronze medal in National Senior Men’s Powerlifting Championship held in Santpalli, Andhra Pradesh, bronze medal in National Junior Men’s Powerlifting Championship held in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The Chief Minister wished him a bright future and also wished him good luck for the upcoming competitions.
