Peeparchhedi irrigation project will be completed after 45 years – Chief Minister gave historical approval

5,000 farmers from more than 10 villages will be benefited, the picture of the area will change
Raipur 9 May 2025: A historic moment came today in the remote forest area of Madeli in Gariaband district, when Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai announced the completion of the Peeparchhedi irrigation project which was incomplete for 45 years. This announcement is not only the fulfillment of an unfulfilled promise, but also the restoration of the dreams of thousands of farmers of the area. This scheme, which started in 1977, was started with the aim of providing irrigation facility by building a dam on Ghunghutti Nala, but due to the implementation of the Forest Act in 1980, the work was left hanging due to lack of forest and environmental clearance. Many subsequent governments did not take serious initiative in this direction, and the hopes of the farmers gradually faded.
But Chief Minister Sai took this issue as a priority. The central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave life to this years old project by giving environmental clearance. Chief Minister Sai announced this much-awaited approval at the Sushasan Tihar Samadhan Camp, hearing which the people present there resonated with joy. Chief Minister Sai said that this is not just a project, but a victory of the struggle, wait and hope of the farmers. This is the real meaning of Sushasan Tihar – to bring real change in the lives of the people. This decision will not only provide permanent irrigation facility to the farmers of the region, but will also lead to a vast improvement in crop production and the economic condition of the farmers, which will bring a new wave of overall development in the region.
