Passengers crowded in a seven-coach MEMU train

The shuttle and fast passenger trains between Itarsi and Jabalpur, which play a major role in ferrying passengers from Shridham station of Gotegaon to Jabalpur and Itarsi, have been discontinued about two to three years ago. Despite the demand of the people, these trains have not been started yet. Due to this, the journey between Jabalpur and Itarsi is proving to be difficult for the passengers of Shridham station.

Despite the demand from Gotegaon area to restart these two trains, the silence of the railways regarding their operation is creating anger among the citizens. On the other hand, the limited coaches in the alternative MEMU train given in place of the discontinued trains are causing trouble for the passengers.

No seat to sit

Even after paying the express fare, the passengers are not getting seats to sit.

There is a complaint that due to not getting seats, the passengers have to spend their entire journey standing.

Now the situation is that on one hand passengers curse the railways and public representatives during this entire journey, on the other hand passengers are seen forced to travel in the MEMU bogies amidst the hustle and bustle.

It is worth mentioning that earlier two passenger trains, shuttle and fast, used to run from Itarsi to Katni.

Passengers say that every section of society was relieved by these two trains running early in the morning.

Two trains travel in a seven bogie MEMU.

Shuttle and fast passenger had 14 coaches. The railways stopped two trains of 14 coaches each and started running one train in their place. One can imagine how the passengers of 28 coaches would fit in 7 coaches. But on the lines of ‘what can a dying man do?’ people are being forced to travel by this train out of compulsion.
