High-level review of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department in the Ministry

Launch of new hostel-ashram management system, online transfer of Rs 85 crore for operation of ashram hostels*

Emphasis on uniformity and quality of facilities in hostels, strict action will be taken on negligence

Raipur 10 June 2025 – Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai today conducted a high-level review of the works of Tribal Development, Scheduled Caste Development, Backward Classes and Minority Development Department at the Ministry Mahanadi Bhawan. On this occasion, he launched a new portal for hostel-ashram management. Along with this, an online transfer of Rs 85 crore was also done as the first installment (July to September) of scholarship and food assistance under the new system for operation of ashram hostels of the state in the upcoming academic session 2025-26.

Chief Minister Say said that the state government is committed to provide the benefits of schemes to every person of the special backward tribes and tribal society. Our aim is to improve the standard of living of these sections, make them self-reliant and join the mainstream of development. He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi always worries about the tribal community and is working dedicatedly for their development. The central government is running many schemes to ensure basic facilities like education, health, employment and housing.

Chief Minister Sai directed to ensure the effective implementation of ambitious schemes like PM Janman and Dharti Aba with top priority. He emphasized on completing the housing and road construction works approved under PM Janman Yojana with high quality within the time limit. Also, instructions were given to continue the work of preparing basic documents like Aadhar card, Ayushman card, ration card, caste certificate of the beneficiaries through camps under PM Janman Yojana.

While reviewing the ashram-hostels, the Chief Minister said that where necessary, fully equipped hostels should be built there. Arrangement of toilets, beds, drinking water and other basic facilities should be ensured. Strict action will be taken if any kind of negligence is found during inspection. He said that there should be uniformity in the facilities provided to children in ashram-hostels and real time monitoring system should be adopted to monitor the hostels.

The Chief Minister also took information about the sports complexes run by the department and expressed satisfaction over the success achieved by the children in various sports. He said that better facilities will be provided in all the 20 sports complexes of the state so that sports talents are enhanced and players can perform better in national and international competitions including Khelo India.

While reviewing the Prayas schools, the Chief Minister said that highly educated trainers should be appointed in them. Also, special attention should be paid to preparing children for other career options including engineering, medical, CLAT, CUET.

Chief Minister Sai directed to complete the construction work of approved and ongoing buildings under the Primitive Tribe Department within the time limit and to construct fully equipped buildings for the institutions without buildings. He also directed to organize a meeting of the Central Area Development Authority and Scheduled Caste Development Authority soon.

He also reviewed the works of Devgudi construction and Akhra development under tribal culture conservation and development. Sai directed to ensure appropriate lighting, seating arrangements, shed and drinking water facilities at places of faith under Akhra development.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the Tribal Youth Hostel run by the state government in New Delhi. He said that for the guidance of children preparing for civil services, suggestions should be taken by discussing with the recently selected All India Service officers so that the youth can be helped in making strategies in accordance with the current scenario. He expressed confidence that with this, more and more youth of the state will reach higher positions and play an important role in the development of the state.

In the meeting, detailed review of Eklavya Residential School, Chief Minister Higher Education Promotion Scholarship Scheme, Tribal Multipurpose Marketing Center, Forest Rights Certificate and other departmental schemes were also done.

*Chief Minister reviewed the progress of construction of Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum*

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai reviewed the construction work of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum under construction in Nava Raipur. He inquired about the nature of the museum, the quality of construction and the material to be presented and gave necessary guidelines.

The Chief Minister said that this museum will be dedicated to the immortal saga of the brave sons of Chhattisgarh. Historical movements like Paralkot Rebellion, Sonakhan Rebellion and Bhumkal Rebellion will be specially shown in it. Along with this, the contribution of the major tribal freedom fighters of the state will also be presented in a live form.

He said that this museum will become a source of inspiration for the coming generations. We are proud that the land of Chhattisgarh has played a historic role in the freedom struggle. These sagas will be presented in an interesting and illustrative way in an audio-visual manner through modern techniques.It will be presented in an informative form. The Chief Minister also directed to complete the construction works within the stipulated time frame.

In the meeting, Principal Secretary of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department, Shri Sonamni Bora presented the information about departmental activities, achievements and new work plan in detail to the Chief Minister through a PowerPoint presentation.

Minister of Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department, Shri Ram Vichar Netam, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Subodh Singh, Secretary to Chief Minister Shri Rahul Bhagat and senior officers of Tribal Development Department were present in the meeting.
